Pricey but 5 star food and service. BYOB helps. Update July 2023. DO NOT hold any type of event there. You screwed every which way plus you getto deal with 2 of the rudest most unprofession managers you will ever meet. We recently had a dinner party celebratiing my in-laws 60th Wedding Anniversary. First they charge you a flat price of $4000 for up to 22 people we were told. Starting with the banquet manager who will demand you find out what everyone wants to eat from a choice of 4 entrees the week before she will cancel your reservation. We had 17 for dinner and when we asked if they could bring some extra entrees since we had paid for up to 22 servings, the replay from the equally rude manager there (Anthony I think) that is impossible because "we are not that kind of place." Damn right. They certainly are not the classy high end places that will do everything they can to make you happy. These 2 seem to operate on the idea that you should just be grateful you were giving a reservation. Just shut and eat your food! The food is another story. The portions considering youare paying 200+ per head was laughable. We each got 1 crabcake the size of a meatball. Enough salad served family style to barely cover half a salad plate. Then the pasta was about a large appetizer portion but that was for FIVE people. The entree was about a normal appetizer size. We did note that the regular diners entrees were about twice our portions. What the hell? We are charged more and get less. The food was good but there are plenty of choices in the area that understand you are the customer paying them with your money that you could easily spend elsewhere. So if you still feel you have to have a dinner for up to 22 people and this place is the only place you would consider, then MAKE SURE you bring 22 people. Do a good deed, treat a homeless or down trodden to a meal of their lives but make sure you fill the dance card to capacity. ...
Read moreThis restaurant seems extremely well reviewed, I must have gone on an off night. We waited a while past our reservation, no big deal. The service was pleasant and attentive. When it came time to listen to the specials we were told about the 36oz steak special for two including two small sides, "for $160." We thought that was a reasonable price, so that's what we decided to have for an entree. We also enjoyed some tea and coffee, an extra side with the entree and desert. The restaurant was much smaller than expected which I would typically consider endearing for such a place. The atmosphere wasn't that great though; it was very loud, there was an obnoxious table seated behind us and there were two tables with small children running rampant—nothing short of a typical dining experience. The latter was unexpected as the restaurant has a dress code which kind of sets a tone as well as specifying on their website that they'd appreciate it if you left your children under the age of eight at home—if you can afford to eat at this place, you can afford a sitter for two hours. I received the bill and to my surprise it was over $400, close to $500 with the tip included. Paying such a premium for merely two people, I would have expected a much more pleasant experience. Apparently the "$160" steak was per plate, so a $320 steak—the steak was delicious but not $320 delicious. Had we known the actual price, we would have ordered something else off the menu. I don't think I'll be dining here again after that experience. If somebody ever held a gun to my head and forced to come back, I'd kindly skip on the dessert and I'd order...
Read moreThis was my second time going there and both times for a special occasion. This time was my mother's birthday and there were 5 of us. Waiting for the restaurant to open, I accidentally scared the you know what out of one of the kitchen staff members when I leaned on my horn as he was walking in front of my car. He was even polite about that!!!We were given a great table. Each visit we had different waiters and both of them were fantastic. The wait staff was attentive, efficient, friendly and polite. They anticipated our every need, made us feel special and were constantly at the ready without being intrusive to our table conversation. The food was exceptionally prepared with a unique and delicious combination of flavors. Both times we dined we had 5 guests and not one of us had an issue or problem with our meal. It is about an hour drive for me, but worth it every time. I would choose Saddle River Inn for any evening of dining out whether it be with friends or family. If you want a 5 star experience all around, I recommend you call them, and I would bet your visit to be a most pleasant one! Thank you to Saddle River Inn staff for all your hard work, dedication and obvious passion for...
