The Roost Rotisserie Chicken & Latin Cuisine is a fantastic addition to the St. Augustine dining scene. Located in Westgate Plaza, this locally owned, quick-service restaurant offers an authentic and welcoming experience with delicious Latin flavors. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality, and the vibrant yet cozy atmosphere made us feel right at home.
One of the highlights of our visit was meeting the owner and chef, Claudia. She took the time to come over and chat with us, sharing her inspiring vision behind The Roost. Itâs clear she is passionate about serving the community with fresh, high-quality food. Her dedication shines through in every bite, and itâs no surprise theyâve already built a loyal customer base in such a short time.
The menu features a variety of options, including signature rotisserie chicken, rice bowls, empanadas, arepas, and traditional Latin pastries. We decided to try a little bit of everything, and it did not disappoint! Our meal included: ⢠Healthy Bowl: A delicious combination of yellow rice, veggies, black beans, yucca, sweet plantains, and their perfectly seasoned rotisserie chicken. The flavors were authentic, and the portion size was generous. ⢠Empanadas: Crispy on the outside, packed with flavorful fillings inside. They were an absolute delight and great for sharing. ⢠Flan and Cuban Coffee: The flan was silky smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness, and paired beautifully with a bold cup of Cuban coffee. It was the perfect way to end our meal.
What sets The Roost apart is the dedication to offering fresh, healthy meals with options for everyone. They have vegetarian and gluten-friendly choices, making it an inclusive spot for a variety of dietary preferences. Whether youâre grabbing a quick lunch, planning a family meal, or just craving some comfort food, The Roost has you covered.
The service was quick and friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food you receive. Itâs also a great grab-and-go option for those busy days when you want something satisfying but donât have time to cook.
If youâre in the St. Augustine area, I highly recommend giving The Roost a try. Itâs the kind of place youâll want to come back to again and again.

Read moreI came here on their opening day and let me tell you, they have their recipes perfected as if they have been open for years! I ordered a rice bowl with white rice, mojo pork, and sweet plantains. On top I added pico de gallo (which was unreal), pickled onions, chickpeas, and their cilantro lime sauce (also incredible). I was OBSESSED from the first bite, and did not stop till I had finished every grain of rice. The $15 for the bowl was 100% worth it with how flavorful all of the ingredients were. The pork was a perfect blend of salt and fat, the beans were smooth and did a great job leveling out the dish, the plantains lent a fantastic subtle sweetness, and finally the pico and onions brightened up the whole bowl with their welcome but not overpowering acidity. Just fantastic.
I could write a whole other review about their guava and cheese pasty, but Iâll sum it up with this. Buttery, flaky, cream cheese, and sweet guava paste. Incredible
The croquetas were crispy, the smoked ham inside them was smoky, and my belly is happy.

Read moreI'm not one to write many reviews; in fact, I've written just a couple in my life. I want to say that St. Augustine is as beautiful as it is unbearable when it comes to finding parking. On top of the parking problem in the historic district, you don't always have enough money to eat at an expensive place with your whole family, and the more affordable spots hardly have seating. THE ROOST is delicious, the prices are incredible, and the ease of parking makes it feel like you're not even in St. Augustine. It's clean, the food is wonderfully cooked, and there's a huge variety of Latin cuisine â the desserts are also delicious. I loved the rooster-themed decor, and I'm very picky about cleanliness. I would give it an even higher score if it were possible. Excellent service. I had Peruvian chicken, rice and beans, fried yucca, and a spectacular hot guava pastry for dessert. Everything was packed with...
