I've been here a few times and really enjoyed it. Fratelli's has become my go-to Italian restaurant. Service is consistently good with helpful employees, timely drink refills and recommendations as needed. The decor is a very class vibe and they do offer bar seating as well.
They start you off with a warm bread basket. It's delicious. Be careful not to eat it all and fill up lol. Splurge on the house salad if your meal doesn't come with it. Their salad is superb! The house made dressing is absolutely amazing, it also has cheese, and a green olive. Mix that baby up and enjoy.
I prefer to come at lunch as they do offer a lunch menu. I've had the meatball sub, tutte mare, the beef tortellini and a special offering seafood ravioli. Everything has been delicious! If I had to pick, I would hands down get the tortellini again! I really love alfredo sauce and the first time I ate here they offered "white sauce". It is a cream base sauce, but not alfredo and I'm obsessed with it. I will absolutely order a dish that has the white sauce.
You MUST dine here if you are in the area.
So then you are probably wondering why I gave 4 stars... My last visit I came with a friend that has Celiac. We had eaten here before the diagnosis and we knew they had gluten free pasta. She had also looked it up on a cool gf app she has. When looking over the menu we were pretty excited that they had multiple sauces that were gf so there were a lot of options. When friend went to order the waitress asked if the gluten free was a dietary need and shared that although there are multiple sauces marked gf they have contact with gluten - EX they keep meatballs made with breadcrumbs in the meat sauce, so the meat sauce is not safe for someone with Celiac. We were VERY happy our waitress knew all this and took the time to take precaution and educate us. But at the same time, don't have an item on your menu marked GF if it's not... very disappointing, Friend came for a pasta dish but when the options were so limited, she ordered salmon with a side of GF pasta with pomodoro sauce. It was...
Read more2024 Date Night Series continues with "Italian!" Being in St. Chuck, we have heard many great things about Fratelli's, and tonight, we finally had a chance to visit.
First off, the look has a modern take to what I feel is classic Italian decor. I loved it. On the outs looking in, I felt as if it was a more upscale place. Dress code kinda establishment, but it was not. Very neighborhood-ish feeling place.
I originally planned for a 630p eat but decided to go earlier. 6p was not available, so I did a 530p reservation. Our server was very nice. She offered us happy hour selections, which I was totally unaware of. Happy Hour ended at 6p, so that 630p reservation would have meant missing out on some great apps. One downside is the fact that by 6p, it turned into a very bustling and loud restaurant. I'm definitely glad we came early.
We tried 4 things total was $60.47 before tip.
We tried the hand rolled meatballs and fried zucchini to start. The meatballs were perfect. They are what I want my meatballs to be when they grow up. Smooth balanced texture and flavors. I could have only had that and been completely satisfied. As life-long Maggiano lovers, whenever I see fried zucchini, I am intrigued. Fratlelli's take was quite unique. Crispy French fry shaped zucchini sticks topped with feta cheese sitting atop tzatziki. Served with house marinara. I was a little surprised by that combination. 😳 it was so enjoyable. The zucchini was so light it was like eating crispy air. A definite MUST TRY! I ordered pasta cabanara and it was my first authentic cabanara. It was made with egg yolks, bacon, and cream sauce tossed with rigatoni. It is so rich and delicious. Wife ordered the pollo fratelli, and it was the perfect balance of tender grilled chicken with balsamic bites and notes of sweet. It's absolutely amazing. She paired it with pasta with white sauce. Everything was so good, so much food we took over half togo. An Italian...
Read moreFirst time here... DEFINITELY NOT the last!! The 4 of us shared a sausage pizza - DELISH! (For those not familiar with Provel cheese, it's a St Louis staple. Very creamy & such a treat compared to standard mozzarella) Mike was our server & was fantastic! He definitely added to the overall dinner experience. We each ordered our own main entrée which included a meatball sandwich needed a bit more marinara, but looked FABULOUS, spaghetti with meatsauce (HUGE portion), and baked mosticioli with meatballs (FANTASTIC!) We also shared an order of toasted ravioli (a St Louis "thing" that was the best I can remember since Garavellis many years ago. (I may need my OWN order next time!) It's served with a dish of their house creamy salad dressing & a cup of marinara for dipping. My mouth is watering just typing this! Their special salad was more than enough for us to share as well. The bread baskets were fantastic as well. If there was a good reason to be glad it wasn't served warm, it would be that you wouldn't be able to stop eating it. As lifelong patrons of Ponticellos until they closed... I can honestly say that Frattelis has made not being able to get Ponticellos pizza any more just a bit more bearable. I grew up going there & always went after moving out of state years & years ago. Frattelis us my new favorite Italian restaurant in St Louis! We were there on a Monday night, had only about a 15 minute wait & I can truly say that even as busy as they were at about 6pm on a Monday, every minute was worth the wait! Prices were just fine for what portion sizes you get & especially for the quality & such great flavors- in everything! I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town. Oh, and yes, the house salad dressing was definitely yummy enough that a pint jar is going home with me to Indiana. Thanks again Mike for the...
