We had heard some really good things about this place and my sister had been wanting to go for a long time. We were looking for a place to play trivia and saw that it was offered on Thursday night so we went. From the minute we got in the doors, you could tell it was themed as a fantasy world. You could tell a lot of D&D people would visit this place. They did have one regular menu and one special menu on the table, but you were encouraged to use the QR code. We scan the QR code and tried looking through the menu. It was not user friendly at all and you had to scroll and scroll and scroll to find things you might be looking for. On top of that the beer and even the food was named for the fantasy theme so it was very hard to find what you might be looking for. I would recommend that they redo their online ordering menu layout to make it more friendly. Also there was quite a number of things that were " out of stock". I guess since it's an electronic menu I would prefer they just hide those items when they are out of stock and put them back on when they are available. It just was more than a few, which seemed weird. Nonetheless, we definitely wanted to try their beer because they are a brewery. I will say though it's very messy in there and observing where the Brew kegs are, it is unorganized and looks almost unused. My sister ordered a flight which was easy to order and came rather quickly, but this was the only thing that came quickly. The beer tastes were odd and one of them tasted like Chinese food 🤷, I think it was the pineapple one. I decided not to order beer, we were also with two other people and they didn't want to either. I wanted to order a mixed drink, however I'm picky about cola so I like to see if they have Pepsi or diet Coke. I scrolled and scrolled and finally found near the bottom of the menu, all they had was Dang! brand soda. I had never had that so I went and asked for a sample try at the bar, it was awful! So, I switched my plan and decided to order a gin and tonic with a lime. The tonic wasn't super bubbly (maybe an opened bottle was used, which can happen), the lime was weird as it seemed dehydrated? but I drank it and it was all fine. A few others at our table ordered specialty cocktails and they said they did like those (I can't remember the names because they were a little odd). Next we ordered some appetizers. They were really slow to arrive, the onion strings were good with Chipotle ranch dip. Next came the giant pretzel, it was served with 2 very odd dips that we couldn't identify and none of us liked them. They do have a long long list of dip options. I just don't think that we trusted that they would be good either so we didn't order replacements. Last we ordered nachos, we had vegetarians in our group so we did not order the meat, but the cheese sauce was so coagulated we could not eat it. It really was quite awful. In fact, before leaving I told them about it and they did remove that from the bill which was good customer service. However, the bartender made a comment that he has heard that before about the nachos? Why wouldn't they have addressed and improved that item then? The last person in our group did order a salad which was $15 but was not much bigger than a side salad at a lot of other restaurants. He did add turkey meat and it came in thick slices like you would put on a sandwich?? And it was very dry! Nothing too impressive about his dish. Again, all of it took quite a while to be delivered. They were busy but not overcrowded but seemed to only have 2 gentlemen working so maybe that was the issue. The staff was friendly but the rest of the experience was just not good. From the messy atmosphere, to the mediocre drinks and mediocre food, I would not recommend going here. They do have trivia and other nights with themes and specials, maybe that's how they keep people coming? Maybe the crowd is made up of more regulars that just like this type of thing? I was actually surprised to read some of the other very positive reviews, so obviously it's for some people...
Read moreLet me start by saying this bar isn't for everyone. It has a lot of really cool stuff and great food/drink options, but it is a themed bar. If you can't tell by the pictures and videos it is dungeons & dragons style them. It is a really cool atmosphere if that's what you are into. They brew their own beers, They have a bunch of free board games you can play, a lot of cool things that make this bar a special place. I was shocked when talking to the bar tender that this place has been open for 5 years now. It is very clean and very well kept bar makes it feel like a new place. So I really came here for the food, specifically the wings. The adds for this place have really been popping up on my Facebook and the pictures looked absolutely amazing! I started off with a house beer that was fantastic! I would definitely recommend anyonr to check out the beer selection. Next up I ordered some deep fried pickle chips, these were absolutely amazing! They came out nice and hot had a light and flaky breading with a perfect crunch. Now for the wings, I will say I was a little disappointed in flavor options but that's not the end of the world. I'm always looking for a really good Asian flavor something like a Asian zing, or honey garlic of nature. So I asked the bar tender and he said the the sweet and spicy was the best option for that. I ended up ordering sweet and spicy, honey bbq, Carolina gold, and garlic parm. I asked how they are made, so I guess they smoke them until temp then they put them in the oven at low temp, when you order they flash fry them and sauce them. I wouldn't say I could really taste any smoke flavor but they were definitely softer inside. They weren't though or hard to chew at all. The flavors were pretty solid, I really enjoyed the garlic parm, however I was not a big fan of the Carolina gold. They had a really powerful mustard flavor that was just too much for me. I think they put on the perfect amount of sauce which is very important to me. The one thing that didn't hit for me was I like a nice char on the outside, and that's a just me thing. So I asked the bartender and he said I could special request that they throw them on the grill and char them a bit. I like a bar that's willing to work with a customer to make food how they prefer it. Also be sure to check out the deals and specials, Wednesday is 75¢ wings! I feel the prices were fair for everything you get. Overall I really enjoyed this place and I'll be back to try some more stuff and play some board games...
Read more…I don’t know how to accurately rate this place. Truly a moral conundrum. I think this may be a “me issue”, but also some of it wasn’t? I’ll start by saying that the place itself is neat and kitchy, gives off old tavern vibes or something, which is fitting considering it is what it is. Card shop attached is a fun little touch, dinner and a lil loot bag, yknow? I noticed board games and a few arcade type games around, definitely a fun lil place to grab some food and play some games, whether you use what’s provided or bring your own. Also, the onion rings… my god, when I die, if I’m not rolled off into the crematorium with a basket of them on my chest, I’m haunting EVERYONE. They were so stupid good. I’ll be thinking about them for a long time.
Okay now maybe it’s because I’m a terrible millennial and have started to retire myself into the boomer category, but I didn’t like the ordering process at all. I’m not big into using cards, I’m useless at technology, and I’m also blind in one eye and it’s hard for me to read off small screens. I also understand that some places moved everything to an online ordering platform after Covid, but I really (apparently) value the good ol’ fashioned hand held, printed menu. I appreciate that everything had a whimsical name, however that made it VERY hard to figure out what the food actually was. Some items made sense, others did not. I guess I like the ease of being able to read descriptions below the items. Again, probably a “me issue”. However my problem lies in my meal; everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food, and like I said, those onion rings were heaven sent… but charging $14 for a BLT that was honestly a mayo sandwich… nope. I thought maybe I was being too picky but when the four other people at my table even noticed how much mayo was oozing, literally oozing out of the sandwich, they called it out too. There were also four very small strips of bacon in the sandwich… I’m not trying to be THAT customer but that’s a ridiculous price for almost no bacon, one wilted piece of lettuce, and two slices of tomato. Deeply upsetting. And because of the ordering process, no one comes by to check on you and how you like the meal, so… ? I’d come back again, and give it another shot, but it’s left this really strange taste on my tongue for lack of a better expression, and I’m...
