Unfortunately, I don't think this is the best stop for food if you're not the " Right" complexion. My husband and I stop in while taking one of our evening rides on our Harley. We sat and waited on ONE cheeseburger for at least 45 minutes while watching customers who arrived after us receive orders with larger parties. My husband kindly asked our pleasant waitress if his burger was being cooked and was told " yep, it's on the grill and they just put the cheese on it. We had a large order to get out first". All good, we totally understand. Seeing that my husband is a VP for a major fast food chain with locations world wide. After waiting an additional 10 minutes we decided to leave. As we were leaving, our waitress approached my husband with his burger in a takeout box and asked if he wanted to take it with him. Idk, maybe she just didn't want us to eat there...who knows? This was an experience I've not felt. I felt awful for my spouse, helpless and angry. Needless to say, we will continue to just ride on by as always when dropping our boat or out for a bike ride. It's a shame to deal with this type of mentality in today's time. In my line of business, being a RNA I do not discriminate against ANY encounter. I...
Read moreMy wife and I moved to Tally, Florida 9 months ago from New Orleans. We appreciate all manner of food that makes your mouth happy, and we are both accomplished cooks. That's what NOLA teaches you 24-7: life is too short to eat bad food.
We did a little road trip to St. Mark's today looking for fresh seafood, and a little sight seeing. Stopped in Cooter Stew Cafe to ask about sources of fresh seafood, and the helpful staff understood we wanted to cook food, and they suggested a few places in the area. According to the cook, only one place is where he bought seafood. Food connection! We were told that the burgers and fries at Cooter Stew were very good. We hadn't eaten a burger for well over a year, so we decided to take a chance, and look to see if they did offer Cooter/Cowan stew. We ordered the the basic burger fully dressed, and samples of their fries and loaded potato salad. We both agreed the burgers and the potato accompaniments were beyond excellent. Eating good food outside with a blue sky above, close to the water was great.
Bottom line: although there was no Cowan on the menu, Cooter Stew Cafe is a great eatery! Highly reccomended by two eaters. We look forward ro...
Read moreUPDATE. We came to St. Mark’s for a getaway weekend. Came here last night and back again tonight. First night we had the Buffalo shrimp wrap and the Caesar chicken wrap. Tonight we had the loggerhead burger and the pulled chicken sandwich. I’m here to tell you the food is absolutely amazing! Service is on par with the food as well, friendly local staff. Hand ground and patted beef, local fish and shrimp, and great local brews on tap. This place is a must visit! Even if you live in Tallahassee, worth the drive. A must visit.
UPDATE. Hanna (our very sweet waitress) this one is for you. We came back again tonight, third night in a row on Hanna’s recommendation. She advised us to get the loaded potato salad. We order and tried it. BEST POTATO SALAD EVER. NO Mayo, it’s sour cream based. This beats my mother’s hands down. Thanks Hanna! See you...
