Bottom line: Marginal BBQ.

The good; Pulled pork. I actually enjoyed the pulled pork. It was tender & juicy.

Beef brisket. It was decent. Fortunately I got pieces from the point and the flat so I was able to get the whole picture of the brisket. It was tender & juicy. It's ok. I wouldn't drive from Minneapolis to get it but if I was in the area and wanted a brisket sandwich, I'd stop in.

Mac & Cheese. I found the white cheddar macaroni & cheese pleasant and tasty.

Corn bread. It's Ok. I enjoyed it when I heated it up and added some butter. Otherwise it's dry and crumbly.

The bad: Pork ribs were chewy and tough. Not fall off the bone tender.

Sauces: I could barely tell the difference between the sweet sauce and the spicy sauce. The flavor of both of them were bland and not very good.

Hot link: The worst tasting sausage link I have ever had. The texture was weird and the overall taste was greasy and fatty. Just not pleasant. I gave the rest to my dogs.

Mashed potatoes and gravy. They were Ok but the gravy was thin and runny like water. Thicken that gravy up.

Final words. This place has the potential to be good but they have a lot to fix. Maybe they need more experience? I been to the very best BBQ joints in America and I realize no joint in Minnesota comes close to anything in Texas but even by Minnesota standards, this place at the bottom of the list.

Dropped in at about 5:30 on Thur, March 3rd, 2022. This was my first visit. They were out of pulled pork so that must sell well. I was more interested in the brisket and ordered 1/2 pound of brisket with the spicy sauce on the side...the sauce was like a Hmong chimi churri and I thought it was good and spicy. I also tried the side of macaroni and cheese and the apple coleslaw. The brisket was very good. It was tender and moist. It had a nice smoke ring. The macaroni and cheese was way better than average and I liked the apple slaw. 1/2 lb of brisket, side of macaroni and cheese, and apple slaw was $25 total. I will return and try the ribs. I will also return and order everything I tried on this visit again. The gal at the register was energetic and upbeat. I am hoping they make it and continue to improve. Some nice outdoor tables with good barbecue on a summer night would be great. I am a cheap Swede and life long East Sider and I feel like I got my monies worth. We need to encourage and give these young...

As someone who fell in love with smoking meats while living in SEC country, I've been known to be "picky" when it comes to smokehouses. At a minimum, I expect an establishment to serve meats better than I can smoke at home.

Smok'n Outdoors blew the doors of that minimum requirement. The brisket quesadilla was phenomenal and the jus it's served with was flavor-packed. The "Mama's" style pulled pork was a curveball I didn't know I wanted! Perfectly smoked pork steeped in collard greens, there is no downside! The ribs had an amazing bite and were perfectly rubbed. If I had a minor critique, it would be that ribs, while delicious as served, were delicately smoked and lacked the bit of bark I've grown fond of. But that's personal preference.

The Mac and Cheese, Yum Yum Mac, and Apple Kale Slaw were all fantastic and could stand on their own, but paired with the meats it created an absolutely fantastic feast.

For my money, Smok'n Outdoors is turning out the best smoke meats in Minnesota. I'll be...

I come here. I come here when I have the time. Even if I didn't, I would still come here. Why? Because it's good. Family owned, great food, and great sides. Yum Yum Mac is damn good. The only slaw I will ever eat is here, which is the apple kale slaw. Beef rib is HUGE and meaty. Brisket is on point, literally. Ribs are good. A hint of sweet, tender, smoky, and the right amount of pull in ribs. You can pull the meat right off the bone and the meat is WHOLE. Which in my opinion is perfect ribs. The whole fall off the bone rib is dumb because it's over cooked and you might as well eat chopped pork then, which their pork is great. Mama's pork reminds me of my own parents. Which is great. Hmong pepper is aight. But their bbq sauces, normal and spicy is damn good. Add a side of sticky rice and it's a wrap. I haven't tried their prime rib, but I hope to return with a review of it. Their FB page is updated daily so you know what's on the menu! Eat up.

I'm qualified to reviews this restaurant. I've been to many BBQs and Mexican restaurants. Birria Tacos: 7.5/10 very good. I wish it had a little more cilantro and onions. The birria sauce was good. Sticky rice: 8.5/10 not too dry or mushy. Cooked right. Cold MnC: 8/10 it was great! Perfectly cooked and balanced on the ingredients. Mac n Cheese (regular): 5/10 this was a little too runny, sauce was decent and macaroni was on the harder side. It was OK. BBQ sauce (Spicy): 6.5/10 a little sweeter (honey) than I prefer and sweeter than most places I've tried. Not bad but OK. Wasn’t too spicy, just perfect amount of spice. Ribs: 7.5/10 very good. Tender, soft, flavors were good. I would recommend their ribs. Give it a try. Brisket: 6/10 good. The flavor was very good. The selection of Brisket was on the lean side except for one slice. (front slice) Nicely cut thick slices. If this was a fatter brisket it would of been $.
