JJ's Market & Deli — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

This is hard. JJ's has been my guilty pleasure for years. I have driven 90 minutes to this deli, 4 times a year. My husband and I consider ourselves lucky to have found such a hidden gem. I expect inflation, but the sandwiches we received today were so sub par. My Pesto Panini had one slice of fresh mozzarella and one and a half slices of tomato. I didn't realize until I unwrapped my to-go order, when I arrived home. To make the sandwich correct, I went to Publix to buy extra fresh mozzarella and pesto. So disappointed. The Palma Ceia sandwich was mostly correct, but the volume of ingredients was far less than what we are accustomed to. We spent over $50 total, $20+ on 2 sandwiches, and they were just disappointing. The other items we purchased were shelf stable items, so no regrets. The staff is so kind and we love frequenting this local business, but please return to your quality standards in terms of ingredients and quality.

UPDATE 8/6/23 Went back today to give this place another try. Same sad experience. Pesto Panini had a few small chunks of mozzarella. I paid a lot of money for tomato on a roll. So...

JJs Market and Deli is not just small restaurant with amazing food...and a great atmosphere .... it is HOME!!! The owners are absolutely amazing and the most kindhearted people you will ever meet. Most owners are all about the ratings reviews and how much money they can bring in. Not Jill and Ed (NOOO) They actually care abo0ut each and everyone of there employees and customers and it doesnt stop there. that's why they serve only the best meats and cheeses... and the freshest veggies .... breads..... and bakery goods. there show case deli changes DAILY but if your wanting something that's not made as long as its requested with enough time they will make it for you. like I said its not the money with them its about making people happy. this isn't just a great place to eat.... its a great place to bring the family or friends and relax. or even by yourself. have a cold beer or a glass of wine. I would recomend JJs to anyone and everyone. This place become HOME to me at one point and FAMILY ... if you haven't tried them yet what are you waiting for??? YOU WONT...

I have been here once before as a visitor with a friend & had a good experience but now that I have moved permanently to the area I came for a sandwich for dinner at 6:45 pm only two customers in the building & somehow 30 minutes later I come to the front to ask where my sandwich and all four employees who are currently closing have no idea. I ask to cancel my Marvin Lee sandwich & just get a refund they ignore me and tell the kid who took my order to get it immediately I get told “I don’t know what happened” . The $12 sandwich does come out a couple minutes later but I am a server & when I mess up I offer something immediately and genuinely maybe not a refund but something in place of mistakes esp bc you have so many locals a little something in place would go a long way esp if you are acting as a restaurant just a tip if you want to keep long...
