I cannot comment on the food or service of the restaurant. What I can tell you is before I arrived at the Cloister I received a rude phone call from this restaurant informing me that I would be charged some sort of fee if I canceled (must happen a lot?)and that I would have to dress appropriately ( long sleeves and jacket if a man and cocktail dress if a woman). I planned on wearing what I considered to be appropriate clothing for a dinner and assumed I would be charged a cancellation fee if I canceled ( again must happen a lot) but I am unaccompanied to being treated in this fashion by wait staff. I would remind this restaurant ( that serves some sort of new age Southern food ) that Southern culture is never rude or condescending to its guests. My grandmother tried to set a standard of appearance for her quests but would never have considering demeaning one for his/her clothing choices ( and she didn’t charge resort fees) Makes me wonder what would happen if I decided to wear the cocktail dress? And how do they know if you are wearing long sleeves under a coat? Obviously they are much concerned about these issues than the quality...
Read moreIt wasn’t that good. The staff were excellent. I mean really amazing. The food wasn’t great. I understand it’s an experience but some of the flavors were awful. Particularly the tomato salad. They have a frozen part of the dish. The green liquid inside tasted just gross. It was like salty sea water. The soup is very pleasant and so is the chocolate cake. I had the chicken and the only edible part was the chicken itself. There was asparagus with foam on top. The foam just didn’t taste good. I’m a big fan of artistic food. But the artistic food needs to taste excellent if it’s going to be done. Maybe some of these items weren’t on the regular menu. I feel like the chef is almost amazing but pairs together some odd combinations that don’t compliment each other. The execution is almost there. I really think that they should rework some of their menu items. This place has potential. Again this is just my personal opinion. The staff and ambiance were...
Read moreI have NEVER experienced such horrible customer service in my entire life! Please do yourself a favor and skip this as a dining option! In a place where you should be enjoying top notch food and service, this establishment misses the mark on every level. The management (especially) along with the staff could NOT care less if you enjoy this meal. Our family has traveled around the world and our seasoned guests of Sea Island resort. This is by far the worst stay we have ever had at what is considered to be a “Luxury” resort. If you do decide to visit this property, which I DO NOT recommend, please skip this dining establishment...
