The Packer Inn — Restaurant in Salem Lakes

I got the fish fry that everyone raves about. The pieces were small and dry/overcooked. They substituted my blue gill with 2 tiny smelt. To top it off, there was a long hair fried in to my perch breading.

Edit: I sincerely appreciate the owner taking the time to reply to my review, as well as the offer to rectify the situation. This is the mark of a business owner who cares.

I remember the cook coming out several times yesterday evening. He had short black hair, but several of the waitresses have long fair hair. This is the type of hair that was found on my breading. Regarding the smelt, I am not the person who asked for a walleye substitute. I knew the blue gill would be substituted, but I didn't know with what, and I wasn't given an option (not that I needed one). I'd never eaten smelt before, and I realized yesterday that I didn't care for it.

I really wanted to love it, and I was with a dear friend who loves the place and so this is why I did not point out the hair to the waitress. My friend also mentioned that her perch was not how it usually is, and she was disappointed with her meal as well. I'm generally not very confrontational, especially in a food service setting. Was there last night I had the walleye were should I start it wasn't really busy 45 minutes after we ordered I had my fish full of bones and under cooked I couldn't wash the the taste out of my mouth because after the 45 minutes my glass was empty the server never came back to are table but to give me the bill over 32 bucks for two fish dinners and two sodas the wife's fish was just as bad and didn't get the bread told the server when she gave me the bill and just walked away we will never be back and will be spreading the word don't go there over priced and under fed...

Horrible! Do not waste your time here! Website deceiving, we called for a reservation. Made it. Girl calls back to tell us they’re out of fish fry, no problem, we show up, no one helps us. They stare at us like what are you doing here. It is a complete dive. And I’m not against a dive bar, but it was NOT a restaurant like they advertise. Owner turns from his bar stool and tells us cooks are spent, we can’t help you. We say we had a reservation he says no, we can’t accommodate you. Do not go to this dump.
