El Rancherito of Salem, IL — Restaurant in Salem

Good food, horrible service, and they will jab you for extra money if you're paying the check after 3pm. Stood and waited to be seated and no one ever arrived to show us to a table. They were not busy and it was after lunch and before dinner hour. We seated ourselves and then waited to be acknowledged. After a long wait, the waiter brought us menus and returned a short time later to take our orders. In about 15 minutes he returned with our order and was never seen again. We needed drink and chips refills and there was no member of the wait staff in sight. Our waiter never returned to check on us. Although we arrived at 230pm, they added on $1.00 per person since it was after 3pm. It is stated on the menu but does not say "arrival" or "check out" for the extra charge. So they follow the check out time, not the arrival time. When we wanted to pay at the front door we waited and waited for someone to accept payment. We had to go back to the kitchen area to round up someone to take our money. The entire visit was annoying from a wait staff who really did not care. Ordered on Doordash for delivery. Ordered a Burrito with extra Chipotle sauce and extra cheese sauce. Also a chimichanga to be grilled. These were noted specifically on Doordash. Doordash did a great job handling our order. When El Rancherito made the order, they failed to include the extra Chipotle sauce and cheese sauce. They also deep fried the chimichanga, not grilled it. We called El Rancherito and they offered no solution to getting our order right. We are confined to our home, so we could not leave and pickup our missing items. The restaurant would not take any responsibility for their mistakes. This has happened before on carryout orders. When we called back on the telephone they gave a strong feeling that they don't care about their customers. The Elrancherito lady that answered our call even hung up on us when we called to get our missing items on our order. Edit 7-21-2022. After your reply. Can't you take any responsibility! UPDATE: I was sent a response, given an apology (which is accepted as long as they understand I Understand things happen) and asked if I invoved a manager. I could Not response to the message (hence the update)

The answer is yes, I did. Unfortunately management was a big part of the issue. Maybe they were having a bad day. I know after that experience we could have finished our day out pretty crummy. But we chose not too.

1. 4 adults w/ baby -not asked if we wanted a high chair or told location to retrieve the high chair.

2)Inadequate service -possibly new untrained emplyee, empty drinks most of the time and every dish still on the table when we left. Charged $5.99 for desert we didn't have. We did order desert.

Visiting family here and REALLY wanted a problem free lunch.
