Super 8 by Wyndham Salem — Hotel in Salem

My family moved from Salem in 2016 and the Super 8 has been our choice for lodging anytime we are in Salem. We have never had any complaints about the establishment until our last 3 visits but especially with our visit this past weekend. Super 8 had always been a great choice...affordable rates, free wifi, clean, quiet, and small but good breakfast especially the waffles my favorite. We learned that it was under new ownership/management and it shows. When we entered our room, it was muggy and warm. When we entered the bathroom, there was no toilet paper no clean towels and it did not appear clean. The bathroom looked like it was left in the same condition from their last visitor. Our kids used the bathroom and couldn't flush and after inspection...the water had been turned off to the toilet. The beds were made but the white linens were stained and there were crumbs in the bed. The floors needed a good vacuuming. There breakfast was also shortened by 2 hours and there is less breakfast options. The waffles that I looked forward to were no more. Either they are using a new mix or have watered in down so much that our son mistook it for a cup of milk. I cooked it twice and it never cooked thoroughly. The parking lot used to be full but that is no longer the case. It is sad to see the quick decline of our beloved Super 8. We have decided to take our lodging of any future trips elsewhere. I hope they change their ways in time to save...

July 28th Sunday.My son and I stayed. It started with the booking of the room the website and hotel desk guy said there was a pool. Got there no pool the front desk clerk said it was a gimmick they use to draw people in. The ice machine was broke. Then the furniture was semen stained. And floor in room was wet and sticky. Bathroom had feces over the wall. And nicotine drops down wall. Mold in ice bucket. Tried to ask for another ice bucket had none. Then hands me a plastic bag holding a iceberg. The mattress was placed on a bored. Uncomfortable. I asked for a receipt at the end of stay and they said they they couldn't get me one with the price of my stay. I don't smoke and my child doesn't smoke but they still took my card again to charge me for anything broken. None of the outlets worked. Disappointed really wanted it to end (my vacation). When first arriving the employee was very hospitable and polite, however when the manager arrived he was very rude and had an attitude with the 2 questions I and my mother had asked. We couldn’t figure out the shower head but the employee obliged and helped us. The ceiling in the bathroom looks like it’s about to fall in. The refrigerator in the room isn’t that cold and the outside of it is chipped. The key card only works when it wants too. For a 2 star hotel I can see why now. They do have a $15 a night pet fee which isn’t bad compared to the other hotels here. The TV in the room is small and its signal sucks so I’ve just been watching tv on my phone. They do have free wifi. The floors in the hallways and the stairs are dirty, but the rooms are clean. Ish. I found a beer can behind the bed when I was looking for my cat. I don’t drink and my mother doesn’t like beer. I feel like the people who own this place should do better if they want...
