Traveled for a family emergency. Located conveniently right off of I-57. Hotel appears upscale upon entering the main lobby. Was greeted by friendly staff members. The moment you hit the hallway, the appearance is that of a run down Motel. Carpets are pieced together haven't been vacuumed or shampooed in who knows how long. The hallways are blistering hot despite the AC units running full blast. There is an elevator that's a plus. Upon exiting the elevator onto the second floor, the smell of Indian food is so hit you in the face...damn near get heartburn just walking through. I stayed in the king jacuzzi suite which was clean-ish. One curtain was dangling off its hooks, AC unit needs serviced, the TV didn't work the two nights I stayed.i had two people come try to figure it out-epic fail. I'm paying nearly $200 a night to stay here and even the most basic amenities are inaccessible? I ended up doing a factory reset on the TV myself and connecting it to my personal hotspot to make it work. There was a white substance stained onto the chair...looked like bodily fluids of some kind. I moved the chair and it was covering a big white crusty stain of some kind. Boards in the floor around the Jacuzzi are loose and not secured to the subfloor. Big hole in closet door and shotty patchwork in the bathroom. The Jacuzzi was fantastic and huge! Big enough for four people. The bed was comfortable. The site says hot breakfast which was the seller for me until I made it down for breakfast this morning and there's no fruits, yogurts, pastries, eggs bacon sausage NOTHING HOT ABOUT IT! Two cereals sat next to milk left out to get warm, bread for toast a couple of bagels and a juice machine. Not impressed at all. I've definitely stayed in worse places. As far as bang for your buck, epic fail. It's basically one big bait and switch situation. People are great, Jacuzzi and bed was great. I wouldn't pay what I paid to stay there again. Prices should be equivalent to amenities that are accessible. So maybe $60 a night would...
Read moreWe've stayed at Choice hotels all across the country and have always found them to be clean, bright, well managed and good value. This is far and away the worst hotel I've stayed in for many decades. It is dull, drab, worn out and broken. The lighting is awful. They make the mistake of assuming that higher color temperature of lights equates to brightness so there is stark inadequate lighting all over. The pool is out of order as are the ice machines on 2nd and 3rd floor. One of the side exit doors is broken and doesn't lock. Carpet is worn and dirty in many places. We booked a king suite and were checked in to a queen single until I went back to the desk and got them to move us. In our room, The window leaked when it rained and we had to put towels on the sill. The screen was torn halfway out in the same window. The desk had apparently been scratched badly by a dog. Paint was chipped. A floor tile was broken in the entranceway, so they had put the rubber suction bathmat over it. There was dirt buildup in the bathroom floor corners. The elevator safety certificate was expired. We had 3 rooms for our party and they all had similar deficiencies. Yet, with so many things broken or in need of repair, there was no obvious work going on anywhere to fix anything -- Just the most "Sorry for the inconvenience" signs I've ever seen in a single building. New keyless entry locks had recently been installed. None of us in our 3 rooms could get it to work. When I asked the staff to make us key cards, they also tried the key combinations and could not open the doors. I suppose that is fortunate because, if they had worked properly, anyone could have figured out the key code for any of the other rooms and that would have been a security disaster. I have pictures of all of this and will likely replicate this information with the added pictures to Travel Advisor, Google, and probably others. Please remove the Choice Hotels logo from this place. It really makes...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel for several years while meeting up with cousins for an annual fishing trip. There were major renovations made a couple of years ago that certainly spruced up the place, including the breakfast area, all of the rooms and the pool. Their breakfasts are somewhat minimal, but adequate with bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles as well as toast and yogurt. The juice machine was "out of service" during my stay which was a disappointment. The breakfast area is very nicely done and the area was kept clean. All of the employees I encountered were very accommodating, friendly and professional. My room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when I first entered which I immediately reported to the front desk so I would not be charged for smoking in the room. The television system they have is extremely antiquated, using coaxial cable boxes that do not transmit HD or a full screen. My television had no sound so they switched out the cable box for me. The picture was a square with huge black areas on either side. I would expect HDMI connections with full HD this day and age. Hopefully that will be upgraded prior to my visit next year. The room was very clean and well appointed for the price level. Because of physical limitations I have, I requested a handicapped room. Primarily this means a large bathroom with a step in shower. The shower floor was not a hard surface and depressed in when you stepped on it, making it quite unnerving to...
