Hanging Rock Tavern — Restaurant in Salem

What a great place!! The food !!! Sooooo good! The taste vs cost .. cant beat it. I have always been treated so well there. Even when busy and the staff is likely tired.. they find a way to make sure you are taken care of. If you haven’t been yet , go check it out. You wont be disappointed. So much effort has been placed on the customer having a great experience. Outside is beautiful and relaxing. Great hearing some live music while sitting outside and having a tasty meal. Seen a review on here nothing for kids to do.. every kid i have ever seen there seems to be having a great time. Baffled on that one. Guess some people are just mad at the world. Lol. Bottom line .. Go check it out for yourself. You will go back. The food is so dang good!! I promise you. Also note the great environment. They did an awesome renovation of that building. Love this place. Btw.. when you see brisket on the menu.. just get it. My mouth is watering now thinking about it !!! If you reading reviews for quality of food , stop here and go get some. I told you so!! Im picky when it comes to food. I would not steer you wrong. They have some of the nicest people you will ever have serve you. We had the pleasure of trying this newer establishment a few weeks ago! We were treated so well the entire time, by everyone from the hostess to the chef (who came from the very busy kitchen, to ask how we liked our meals). The food was cooked to PERFECTION, the service was WONDERFUL, and the atmosphere was MAGNIFICENT. Not to forget the live music was AWESOME. I thought maybe it would be a little hectic and there might be some glitches due to the fact that they hadn’t been open that long, or we would be waiting a little bit for our meals to come, as expected with a new place and a new staff, but they ran like a well oiled machine that had been running for ages. As for the pricing of the food, I find that it was very fair for the amount of food that was delivered in an exceptionally timely manner, the wonderful server we had, and how delicious it was. Walked in excited for our first visit and was highly disappointed. We waited to be seated and after ten minutes of standing and waiting we still hadn’t even been greeted or acknowledged. I thought maybe we should wait a few more minutes and as workers passed us by without so much as looking at us I decided that it was time to go. Unless you want to sit at the bar to avoid waiting to be seated then you should probably try another venue.

Amendment: I gave Hanging Rock another visit and this time it was spot on. I was greeted immediately after arriving and I was seated quickly. My server did a fantastic job of taking care of me and my party. He was very personable and attentive. I had the half chicken and collard greens and the food was excellent. Great experience second go round and I have changed the previous score that I left out deservedly so. Way to go...
