The Silver Whisker — Restaurant in Salida

I had a really upsetting experience at this coffee shop. I came in close to closing time and politely asked if they were open. The owner (cashier confirmed) said yes, and I mentioned that it was hard to tell because there was no open sign — I even suggested that a light-up sign might help. Her response shocked me: she said, “I’d rather slit my wrists and stare at that sign.” As someone who has lost loved ones to suicide, that comment was extremely distressing and completely inappropriate for any setting, especially from a business owner speaking to a customer. Regardless of the time of day, no one should be spoken to like that. I’m sharing this so others in the community are aware of how customers may be treated here. I truly hope the owner reflects on how her words can affect people and chooses more sensitivity...

Laminated dough (croissant) perfection! Sourdough bread…amazing! Cortado…awesome!
