I agree with the reviewer who commented about the jukebox drowning everything out. Last night my friend and I left in the middle of a pool game because the jukebox came on over the sports/background music. It was loud, very loud. Then the waitress, seeing our reaction to the volume, adjusted it. To us, it sounded even louder. This was right after work, before the night crowd. We were the only table running until one other came in. They ordered 2 buckets of beer and the volume went sky high. We felt like we had been pushed out. The waitress was aware that the volume was disrupting our game, but no adjustment was made and she smiled as we left, 'Thanks for coming'. It's a shame that we hadn't even warmed-up enough to order food and drinks.
We've been here on other occasions, late in the evening, when every table was full and people were lined up waiting for one to finish. It's always been nice. The cues are generally straight. The tables are generally good. The music tends to range from hip hop to country. Generally, even late at night, you can still fight to 'hear yourself think'. We've never had a problem with the volume of the music. Even that late at night when we don't expect to be able to hear the sports news and only half hope to hear what the other is saying, the volume has always been in a range that allowed us to at least plan the shot we're shooting and have a good time.
In the past, I have actually encouraged people in other pool halls to come and enjoy the more sophisticated stylings of Eddy's. Based on last night (which may have been a bad night, but in 20 years in and out of pool halls of all sorts, I've never seen anything like it), I will no longer be putting my name on the line by going out of my way to recommend it. Additionally, my group and I will no longer be going there. (Once we're warmed up, we expect to be able to think a few shots ahead. We won't risk being forced out of a place by the volume of music after less than an hour of play. Typically we play all night.)
For most it's fine, even nice; but if you're looking for some thinking/relaxing time (ex. winding down after work) and you envision listening to sports news or mid to low volume background music as part of that (or if you're planning to play a more serious game of pool during 'happy hour'), have a plan B. We expected to be out for several hours last night, but we were only able to get about 40 minutes of warm-up in before the volume of the music shut down our game (literally the music was so loud I couldn't 'see' to shoot the 'straight shot' in front of me). It was rather disappointing. We had to decide whether we were going to go to another pool hall or just go home. It was too early to go to the clubs up the road to finish our games, so we decided the experience had ruined the night and we'd try again another time, at another place. I, for one,...
Read moreMy friend and I have been going to Eddieâs, nearly every Wednesday, for the past year. We went for 2 key factors; the AMAZING bartender Phil and karaoke. When we attended this past Wednesday (7/30/23,) Phil informed us that he just found out karaoke would not be happening anymore. We were super bummed and ask if we could play 1 game of pool for free since there was no communication about the karaoke. He said that was fine since they were dead, so they wouldnât be losing money by us using a table. After 25-30 min of us playing pool, we decided to head out for the evening. As we were saying goodbye to Phil, this awful excuse of an assistant manager stated, in a very passive aggressive tone, âPhil you didnât charge them for pool.â After explaining the karaoke situation, she proceeded to state that we werenât leaving until we paid. I explained to her that Phil was simply compensating for the 30 min we drove due to a lack in communication. She stated that she didnât care, we played pool for âover an hourâ and that we had to pay. I simply asked what the repercussions would be if we didnât pay, since we consistently bring in business weekly and are regulars. She stated, âI have all the power right now, so I will permanently ban you.â Being taken by surprise, we handed Phil money for the pool as she continued to badger us. He said we didnât have to stay there and listen so we left.
THEY FIRED HIM THE NEXT DAY.
Clearly the real story of what happened was not presented, so thatâs why I am writing this. Phil was the heart and soul of this location, and they terminated him because of a poor choice in assistant management. A true sad sight to see. ...
Read moreOnly have been once but had a fantastic time. The wife and I went on a late last minute drink date. We didn't know where to go as it was already 12am. We finally drove by this place and decided to give it a try. As soon as we walked in the door the Bartender I believe Philip greeted us along with other ladies that were working the tables. Philip was great he offered a good selection to choose from since we aren't big drinkers and the wife didn't know what she wanted. I had some Patron and Makers Mark, which was delicious. The wife had some coors holiday beer and a tequila sunrise which she loved the drink he made for her. They also had some pretty good finger foods we tried that weren't expensive either. Also the pool table is fairly cheap the have a 5 dollar happy hour per person or normally only 10 dollars. The tables are nice and I didn't have any trouble finding a stick to use either. The ladies on the floor were very nice and helpful also and very pretty too. It was a very good looking staff all together very clean which is super important to us. I think no matter your age as long as your 18 or up to 100 yrs old could really have a good time here. It's got food music but not blaring so loud you can't have a normal conversation. I'm definitely coming back, I heard they have Karaoke on Wednesdays not that I was ever a big karaoke person but I'm 40 years old now and don't give much a darn about what other people think anymore lol. I might...
