H & R Ice House — Restaurant in San Antonio

Already impressed Went HOME (SA) for the holidays and decided to take a night for myself.

My cousin and I were suppose to meet a friend but plans changed on their ends so, I went anyway. Who says a woman can't walk in by herself and mingle with other adults? I do!

Sat at the bar, ordered a drink and a man hands the bartender a card. She looks at me, asks my name and hands me my driver's license.

Apparently, it had fallen out of my pocket outside and a man noticed it and immediately brought it inside. (Still not sure if I'm being naive or should just be thankful?) I say this because it has my address but not the current address I'm actually living at, out-of-state.

Anyhow, this is NOT a "meat market"! H&R is a really nice adult club where you can listen to Tejano/Country music, dance, shot some pool, throw some darts, sit at a table for a family gathering to celebrate a birthday or just watch sports on the screens at the bar. Bathrooms are remarkably clean! Let's just put it this way, I'm somewhat of a germaphobe and I had minimal apprehensions when it came to cleanliness.🤣

I would venture to say that this is a late 30s and up club. The night I was there, I didn't notice anyone under the stated age limit.

DEFINITELY a place I could socialize at with friends, once I move back home, in a few months!!!

Best small town feeling bar in town !!! I've seen so many people come and go... it's pretty disheartening but some of the old regulars like Henry, Rosie, Jp, the Quates, Edgar, Brad, Stanley, Javi, The list goes on and on... Where friends meet Daily!! These are the now and then patrons who paved the way!! And it would not be H&R without the ladies of the Hour!! Miss Cissy & Ms Rita, I remember Big Tex, and many more !!! I have had the pleasure of being a part of H&r for a little over 15 years and though I may not kin to those who took me there... I surely am grateful for having been...

Amazing customer service from the get-go! Beers are cold and before you get a chance to finish the one in your hand, there's table service to check on you! Great mucic from the start to get everyone feeling good. Tables are available to be reserved upon request, just call and plan ahead. If you're like me and are watching your diabetes 😂, seltzers are available for you to enjoy your time here!
