Los Barrios on Blanco Road  is one four Mexican Restaurants owned by this  family.  Three in San Anotonio and the fourth in Boerne.   First time to eat here. The parking lot and along the side  street were full when we arrived just before 12:00 o'clock.       As you step inside is the reception, waiting area, a gift shop, & a margarita/bar/ beverage station. Their cookbook is sold to the public.  Many memories, photos, posters of the Barrios  family are displayed.     We were guests of a friend who picked up the tab using a coupon which allowed one free meal with purchase of beverages.  Food prices are reasonable with or without a coupon. Usurered to a nice table  on left side of dining room.  The room provides a nice casual dining atmosphere.   The two who served us were friendly and efficient. Immediately brought our chips, salsa & drinks to our table.  The food plate delivered to us was smoking  hot. Initially,  it was too hot to handle.   My wife & I ordered Frajita Taco plates.  Our host  had a bowl of Menudo which she thought was excellent.  My beef Fajita was seasoned,  tender and juicy.   The salsa for the chips was mild.  Contrary to one review, Los Barrios makes its  own tortillas to serve customers (included photo of tortillas being made in restaurant).  Based on our experience, we will definitely return to Los Barrios,  as well as visit  La Hacienda de Los Barrios at their  Redlands location next week.

Took my sister in law for a late lunch early dinner on her birthday. I ordered the chicken verde enchilada lunch special, and I was not disappointed. They were not greedy with the chicken, and the Verde sauce was just the right amount. (Sorry, I forgot to take a picture) My husband had the chicken fajita plate, and it was season just right. Of course, we had to try their 4th of July's trio drinks and the prickly pear Margaritas. (Photo displayed. Don't judge, Lol!) They were so good we ordered a 2nd round. Of course we were celebrating a birthday! The place was clean and very welcoming. There's plenty of parking and prices were reasonable, I'd say for a party of four I spent about $100 so it was not bad. Although there was an issue when my charge posted to my bank account of an extra $20 for a tip a few days later, which I had given the waitress in cash, the manager Kevin was quick to correct this. I was told my receipt was mixed up while processing receipts. I was happy with the customer service and the prompt correction. I plan on going to this restaurant again. Enjoy!

Los Barrios is very popular with the locals in San Antonio. Visitors may not notice the building as they maintain a low-key appearance. Once inside, it's clear this is no small venture. There are three large dining areas, plus a large outdoor patio dining section. The entry foyer is ornate with Talavera style tiling and some gift-shop items. The dining areas are clean & neat, with a very open feeling due to the high ceilings and wall of windows to the patio dining area. The menu is large, with most Mexican dish you would expect. Prices are moderate, leaning to the high side but not excessive. My local friends rave about the place, and this was our second attempt to go, the first visit nixed due to the long wait time. The food was good. Our waitress disappeared after taking our order and never visited again until we had to hunt her down for the check, even though the place wasn't half full at this time. This is a good place to take out-of-towners who may not enjoy one of the cozy smaller mom & pop Mexican restaurants which are all around town.

Los Barrios is sadly nit what it used to be to be before the pandemic.

The atmosphere was not good. The food was not good, cold and dry meat. Service was poor.

Took my daughter for her birthday yesterday and ordered the , EL MOFOFO GRILL "#21" two of them very hefty price but the last time my husband and I ordered it for our anniversary before the pandemic.

This time it was not as delicious and the avocado I remember was not the same flavor, not good , the meat was cold on one of the orders couldn’t keto the fire on to keep it hot because of a air conditioner vent above us.

The waitress took the orders quickly But I felt insulted as she referred to me as the big lady , perhaps it means something in Spanish culture, I don’t know , but it felt like an insult .

Then the waitress brought out three champagne glasses only to spill one all over my head and clothes and into my eyes causing intense burning in my eyes and I couldn’t see until I was handed a paper towel to wipe my eyes and the biting continued a while longer afterwards, this also caused me to choke on what I was eating and it took a while to go away. After everything the waitress brought out SOPAPILLAS with a candle for my daughter , we never asked for SOPAPILLAS so I am thinking this is nice until the bill came , she took off the charge for the champagne she spilled all over me , yet charged us for the SOPAPILLAS, something we never ordered .

Very disappointing experience and food and service for my daughter 30th birthday.

I highly don’t recommend this place and will never ever be back.

Too sad because it use to be a great place with beautiful atmosphere and great tasting food and wonderful service before the pandemic and back in the day as a teenager.

And my eyes are still irritated today One day after the incident Going to see my eye doctor today I’m glad...

If I could give a zero I would. The only good thing about my visit was the service provided by Dino and the margaritas. This place has definitely lost the touch when it comes to food. Nothing like when the legendary Viola Barrios used to be core, pride joy and most and foremost her eye on every plate that she served. How I miss her sense of pride with the food. First there is the outrageous price for the full order of nachos which only comes with specifically 12 pieces of tortilla in which the manager made it a point to tell us, then there's the food itself which looked like someone just splattered on the plate with no sense of pride or good plating in mind.(should of taken a picture) Let me continue with the food taste, it was full of grease and so bland I had to season myself with salt. Then my husband found a hair on his crispy taco which they still charged us for it. Furthermore the lack of the managers knowledge and professionalism as he didn't even know the menu prices when I asked him that theres was no way to justify $1 per chip on that plate, absolute no justification for a $14.99 plate that is supposedly a full order... Just sad, sad, sad that such restaurant has turned into a chain and when that happens there's no pride, no love into the making of the food and definitely no pride on what they serve people whom if they only knew what real Mexican food is, they would never eat this trash food....... Sad I won't ever be back to enjoy the patio. Mrs.Diana Trevino I've known you for a while and I know you'd like to preserve your mother's legacy but this place needs a lot of guidance and...

Dian, the owner, is the most beautiful, kind, thoughtful person you could imagine. I first visited this establishment with 8 colleagues. We are all teachers. Both times my server has been phenomenal. The food and drinks perfect. My favorite is the guava margarita. You dream of this drink. The reasom for the reduction in 2 stars are the manager and the busser. They ruined the entire experience. I'm a teacher and mother of 2 children. One of which is only 8 months. I rarely go out. The one night I'm able to I chose Los Barrios. They close at 10pm on Saturdays (last night). At 9:40 the busser wheels his wagon of trash and contaminated plates 2 steps from my table and sits down and stares at my friend and I while checking his phone. He left to clean a different table the wheeled it right back next to me. This is so unsanitary as Covid-19 protocols require a mask and social distance etc. However, everyones trash and eaten on plates were now placed a step away. I ask my waiter for the manager. He doesn't arrive for 15 min. When he does he strolls over with a piece of Tres Leches cake? No apology, no questions. Just "I told him to move it, here is some cake." At this point I am even more offended that he not once asked what ny concern was, nor did he apologize. Just here you go thick chick take the cake. I have never experienced anything like this before. The remainder of the staff are rolling their eyes and watching on from the sides. I will not be returning as the manager was so dismissive and the busser...
