Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in San Antonio

WARNING!!! I WENT HERE TO THIS SHIPLEY'S FOR MY FIRST TIME BECAUSE I LOVE THEM. But unfortunately when I went here they tried telling me they were out of regular sausage kolaches and when she went to go get them I could clearly see them labeled and there was a tray that was labeled regular. And then I got a strawberry milk and I was charged for a nestlé quix but they gave me the cheaper brand strawberry milk. When I went to leave I'd noticed this and said something and she said that they are all the same price. I know true moo is not the same price as Nestle quicks. Every other donut shop has true moo because it is cheaper and they sell it cheaper than the nestlé. And for them to say that they Don't have the cheaper kolache is because it seems like they wanted to just sell me the more expensive kolache. Just like they sold me the cheaper brand strawberry milk but made me pay the more expensive price. Make sure you check your receipts and you are getting what you paid for. If I had not said anything they would have just let me leave like that I made sure to get my Nestle quick strawberry milk because that is what I paid for not true moo. Even my receipt said...

I've given constructive criticism to their staff about their kolaches. They are over cooked to the point of being the color of potting soil, the is hardly any cheese in the sausage and CHEESE kolaches. The little girl that answered told me she thinks it's fine the way it is.

I will post photos comparing a kolaches from Wurzbach just down the road. You WILL be able to tell the difference. Their goods arents aren't fluffy, they are stiff. Even their donuts aren't ready by 1hr after they open. It's so inconsistent.

Save yourself the disappointment and drive west on Wurzbach and go the Shipley's there. I gave them 5 stars.

Update: gave them a second chance and they failed me. This is what they served, and when I went to return it the lead girl said "So do you just always leave the drive thru without checking you food" uh yeah, I would hope you guys care about quality of the food and don't leave it up to customer to check for the quality. I understand maybe checking if the order was wrong, but not if it's under or over cooked. Worst...

I have been coming here for several years and after nearly every visit, vow never to return. The service is beyond slow in the mornings and staff are not particularly friendly. Most people coming in are on the way to school or work so a modest effort to get us through the line up quickly would be appreciated. Waited in the drive through line, which didn’t move at all. Drove around and went inside..they were filling an order for 8+ doz and making everyone behind that customer wait. Bring in more staff on days you know will be busy or ask them to pull over so others with small orders can get through, like other drive thrus do? No one at the counter to help so I just walked out. The donuts are ok, nothing special but since the location is on the way to school, so it’s convenient. It seems very poorly managed. Not coming to this...
