Willie's Grill & Icehouse — Restaurant in San Antonio

I'm giving this place 4 stars because of their food. The food was really good and the craft beer selection was awesome. It would be a 5 star if the service was any good. Worst service I have ever had at any restaurant. We ordered our food at the front and we were given a ticket to give to our server. Our server never came to our table. After 15 minutes I got up and went and found a server to give our ticket to. When we were finally introduced to our server I ordered another beer and again waited 15 minutes and then got up and got my own beer because she never came back. When we saw her again we asked for the ticket and then she apologized for never getting my beer. She said she wasn't going to charge me for the beer. In my opinion, that made the service worse. She does not have the authority to give people free beer. She is a server not a manager so that was theft. Ordinarily, I would have insisted that I pay for the beer because I do not condone thievery but I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for her to redo the check. You would think that the service would be better in a place where the servers barely do anything at all. Servers there are completely unnecessary. There are many restaurants around San Antonio like momak's and the cove that are structured the same way where you order your food at the front except instead of handing your ticket to a server you just pay for it right there and then pick up your food when it's ready. No servers needed. Willie's should fire all of their servers. They would be able to make more money and people wouldn't be complaining about the service that sucks because they wouldn't be any. In any case, the food was really really good so that's why I'm giving a four-star review because the service may have really sucked but I still had an excellent meal. I hope that they either improve the service or fire all of their servers. Either would be acceptable to me to improve this restaurant. Next time I go, hopefully I will change this review...

Despite this location constantly being out of top-selling drafts, Tahle is an absolute gem of a bartender! From the moment I sat down at the bar, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. She is an expert at crafting delicious cocktails, and she took the time to ask me about my preferences and make recommendations based on what I enjoy. I was blown away by her attention to detail and the care she put into each drink she made.

But Tahle's talents don't stop at mixing drinks - she is also an incredible conversationalist. She has a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious energy that made me feel like I was catching up with an old friend. Throughout the evening, she made sure I had everything I needed and checked in with me regularly to make sure I was enjoying myself.

What sets Tahle apart from other bartenders is her genuine warmth and kindness. She truly cares about her customers and goes above and beyond to make sure they have an amazing experience. Her passion for mixology and hospitality is evident in everything she does, and I can't wait to come back to the bar and see her again.

In short, if you're looking for an unforgettable night out, make sure to visit Tahle at the bar. She is an absolute star and will make your night one...

The previous time we came here was for a fundraiser, where a portion of the food sales went to benefit Magdalena House. We had a good group then with my sorority alumni friends and guests.

This week, it was my husband and I stopping by for dinner. We literally ordered at the nick of time for happy hour which ends at 6pm. Both of us got classic margaritas on the rocks. We started with the fried mushrooms. They were very freshly made and super temperature hot! Loved the sauce that came with it!

I ordered the Icehouse burger with grilled onions and french fries and my husband got the grilled catfish. The burger was pretty juicy but I had started eating the fries first and got filled up with the fries. Brought home half of my burger for later. My husband's grilled catfish was delish that he ate it all up. His sweet tooth kicked in and he ordered the peach cobbler. It was amazing that the peach cobbler was served on a sizzling plate - that was definitely unique!

Carlie took good care of us, checking often if we were doing ok or if we needed anything.
