Surfside Pizza — Restaurant in San Clemente

Wow, what a great surprise. Driving around the new neighborhood on the way to another Pizza joint (craft your own style place) and saw the Surfside Pizza Sign.

REVIEW: I looked up on Yelp to see the review and saw that this place was new. I decided to go back and boy I'm happy I did. I felt like I was 20 again walking around Roma looking for the cool place to eat.

CRUST: We ordered the "Everything" or "Supreme" on the Hand Tossed Crust. My wife wanted the "super thin" as we usually get, but I was HUNGRY and wanted a little bit more. So we compromised (that's why we have been married for 24 years) and got the next thinnest option from the four available. The crust reminded me of my favorite pizza crust I had in NY, LOVE IT.

TOPPINGS: When you order the "Supreme" you expect everything. Usually one or two of the toppings are average and the rest are pretty good. However, EVERYTHING was AWESOME. The sausage was not rubbery like others, the pepperoni was nice and spicy, the red onions were sweet, and to my surprise, they added both black and "green" olives. The salty taste of the green olive was an unexpected delight. As in Roma or anywhere else, I never ask a cook to "change" the recipe because I figure the chief designed the dish to their liking. However, if I saw "green olives" on the menu, I would have asked them to remove it (not a big fan). But WOW, glad I did not because it complimented all the other toppings perfectly.

SERVICE: Great folks, nice, gave me tons of options, and explained the 30" pizza option. We would have eaten there but we wanted a beer at home so we got the pizza to go. So my review on service was for a to go order, AWESOME.

Surfside Pizza has re-opened!!! It is even better than before. The new owner really cares about the details and making sure that the customer is 100% satisfied with the experience. You will feel as though you are in his home for a pizza. I enjoyed the meat lovers pizza which had the perfect crust and toppings. Though i took it home with me, the pizza was still nice and hot. I understand from the owner that the pizza sauce is his Italian moms' "secret sauce". The sauce was rich with just the perfect amount of garlic. And, Surfside Pizza is home of the world famous Pietro's Favorite Lemon Ice; just in time for summer. You will be blown away by the strawberry or lemon ice frozen treat. Refreshing, tangy and not too sweet strikes the perfect balance. (a little more tart than sweet which I love). Visiting from out of town. Our hotel recommended for a quick bite to eat. They did not disappoint. Bone in wings were big, saucy and medium sauce had just the right heat. We ordered the medium meaty amore hand tossed. On average very tasty. It served it's purpose. Seating outside consisted of 5 tables. 3 table that seated 2 and 2 tables that seated 4. Very tight but the umbrellas are a nice touch. Seating inside was limited due to the amount of boxes and product inside.
