I found this place here through someone I follow on Instagram and had it saved in my memory, So when an impromptu plan business to get branch around this area. I knew we had to come check out Fays!
Really lovely aesthetic and everyone working there was also so kind. We made a lot lot lot lot of customers to our order and they actually made note of everything and delivered on it.
Husband got the Hot Chocolate and it was so smooth and delicious. Quite large portion size as well.
A friend got the Orange Juice and the couple said it was some of the freshest they have had in a really long time.
Sauteed Veggies (with side salad) For super delicious! I think I actually liked it more than my sandwich, haha. It was a mix of broccoli and peppers and onion and some mushrooms and spinach as well. Really nice flavoring and everything went well together. There was quite a lot of volume for this as well.
Husband got the Classic Eggs Benedict and he quite liked it.
One of our friends got the Veggie Delight Egg White Scramble with hash browns and some soyrizo on the side And seemed to enjoy it. There was so much on that plate that they were not able to finish it! Big shout out to the massive portion size again.
Another friend got a veggie burrito (California Burrito without fries or carne asada.. So it was basically just guacamole, pico de gallo, crema, cheddar, and jack cheese) And actually enjoyed it so much! Tortilla was crispy on the outside and they finished the whole thing!
I got the Grilled Chicken Deli Sandwich on sourdough, with a side salad. I'd quite a large side Saturn then and good amount of chicken in the sandwich as well. I asked for garlic aioli on the side because I was trying to avoid some extra calories and they accidentally forgot to bring it. I just put some ketchup and mustard in there and it was A little plain but not too bad. There were also pickles in the sandwich which to be honest were not my favorite or maybe they just weren't as strongly flavored compared. Maybe if those pickles were a little better than the whole sandwich would have been a big hit.
Overall really good food with quite big potions sizes and loveliest aesthetic of...

2 Stars: Nice service, awful food
1st red flag: the menu is ENORMOUS, there are sooooooo many items - there's no way that selection is sustainable AND fresh.
2nd red flag: My husband said when he placed his order, he was told the food was to take 5mins - that should've been a clear red flag but we gave the benefit of the doubt since this place is new and locally owned (and this area is in desperate need of more good restaurants run my locals).
It actually took about ten mins but it might as well have been 5.
We ordered a surfer burrito with Colorado sauce and the ham and cheese scramble with hash browns and a biscuit. It was all mostly terrible, unfortunately. The scramble was greasy and overcooked. The biscuit was still a little raw in the middle, dense, and had the weird aftertaste of ingredient ratio being off (I make a lot of biscuits at home with a very good family recipe but I've made mistakes and I know what bad biscuits taste like). I took a big bite of the biscuit and got the taste of raw biscuit dough. Ugh.
I tried the hash browns but they smelled and tasted weird, like they were old? I'm not sure but they barely tasted potato-y and didn't have that yummy crispy, salty hash brown taste. It was almost like they'd gone bad - the taste and smell was reminiscent of garbage and it made my stomach turn. One thing to note that I thought about later - the weird taste could have been from the orange slice they used to garnish the plate and it just didn't travel well for takeout 🤷🏿♀️
The scramble was the only edible thing on my plate and it wasn't the most parable because of all the oil.
I threw away most of my food and kept trying to forget the taste and smell of the hash browns.
My husband didn't like his burrito. The Colorado sauce was almost good but it too had a weird aftertaste.
I was pretty bummed about the food - the reviews were good and the revamped diner theme seemed cool but it was a let down.
Maybe it's an off day, but we probably...
Read moreA fairly new dog-friendly, country diner in the Scripps Ranch area. I rarely make it over to this part of town and actually came from the coast specifically for this diner and overall I’m happy that I did so although we had some minor issues. Parking is extremely easy because it’s attached to a large shopping center with plenty of spaces. It was quite crowded when we arrived, but we did not have to wait at all to be seated indoors. They do have limited outdoor seating, but most seating options are indoor. Our server was very polite and all of our food items came out pretty quickly. I would say pricing is fair and the portion sizes are medium. I do like all the turquoise on the interior and feel based on the menu options and the design inside that it’s more of a country diner than a retro diner.
The issues that we had were minor, but still resulted in a 4/5 for me. I ordered the Salted Caramel Cold Brew, which I did enjoy although the cold brew was quite bitter. Next came the Spicy Southwestern Chicken Soup and this was actually great. I would definitely get it again and would highly recommend it. For my meal I chose the Country Benedict and overall it was pretty good. The eggs were overdone, so they were not runny at all. The biscuits were quite dry and not fluffy at all so kind of left a dry taste in my mouth and made me have to take a drink after every bite. Also the country fried steak was a bit too overdone in my opinion and feel that they fried out all of the flavor. I did enjoy the side of hashbrowns and would give it another try but next time I would order a different dish. Overall, I have had better in San Diego, but I’ve definitely had worse and given the limited diner options in town I do think it’s worth a visit if you are a fan of diners or are...
