From the outset, the service I received was less than satisfactory. The attendant seemed unfriendly and rushed, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. At one point, she gestured for me to hurry up, making me feel unwelcome.
My primary concern, however, lies with a specific aspect of my order. I requested Italian dressing on the side, and the attendant acknowledged my request. To my surprise, upon receiving my sandwich, I was informed that there would be an extra charge for the dressing. While I don't mind paying for additional items, it would have been appreciated if this information had been communicated upfront.
As a loyal customer who has been frequenting Ike's since its opening in Sorrento Valley, this experience has left a negative impression. I have always been generous with tips, as reflected in my receipts. Nonetheless, this incident has given me pause, and I'm uncertain if I'll continue patronizing Ike's in the future.
I wanted to bring this matter to your attention in the hope that it can be addressed to maintain the high standard of service and customer satisfaction that Ike's...

The sandwich itself is a little shorter than a foot, but is incredibly thick and packed to make up for it. Price is in the mid-high range ($17 for the fancier sandwiches, but the cheaper ones can be $15).
Be sure to pick up some chips as well! They carry a unique brand (Zapp's) I've never seen anywhere else, and they are delicious! The Voodoo and Evil Eye flavor chips are certainly a unique experience. They also have vegetarian and vegan options clearly labelled if you have dietary restrictions.
Update: having gone multiple times since, I can also also recommend #182 Phil Mickelson (barbecue chicken with onion rings, photo 2, also taken during Halloween purple Dutch Crunch special), they also have one called the Superman that has basically one of everything stuffed into it, coming in two sandwiches, that is certainly worth a try especially if you're hungry or want it to last a few days. Be warned it does cost as much as two full...
Read moreIf you’re anywhere near Scranton Rd and craving a sandwich that doesn’t taste like someone gave up halfway through making it, Ike’s is the spot. The bread alone could win awards—it’s perfectly toasted, soft inside, with just enough crunch on the outside to make you feel like you’re eating something special. The flavor combos are creative without being pretentious, and everything actually tastes fresh (a rarity in the world of chain sandwiches).
The staff at this location deserves a shoutout too. They’re friendly without the fake “corporate script” energy, quick with service, and they don’t skimp on portions. You leave with a sandwich that’s stacked, not sad.
Bonus points: the sauce game here is strong. Ike’s dirty sauce should probably be bottled and sold as a life essential.
Bottom line—this isn’t just another sandwich shop. It’s the kind of place that makes you rethink what a sandwich can be. Five...
