I am not someone that leaves bad reviews for independent businesses because I believe in supporting them. In also work in the craft brewing industry and I know how hard breweries struggle to maintain customers in a saturated market.
That being said, I have been to KnB twice over the past two years. The first time I went for beers and had noticed an old IPA (2 years old) in the cooler and let them know. They took the beer off the shelf and said it was a rare occurrence. All good.
I went back in last week to meet some friends for drinks and snacks. The restaurant reeks of old stale fryer oil, at least by the kitchen where we sat. But the reason for my complaint was that my friend who is not a regular beer drinker went over to the cooler, found some beers, paid for them, and when he came back I took a look. The beers were both over one year past their code date (expired). When I took him back to try and find a replacement, I could not find any beer cans on the single beer shelf that were suitable to sell. I even found an IPA that I personally brewed in 2020! IPA degrades significantly at 90 days, and this was a 4 year old beer. Several from breweries that went out of business over a year ago!
This is unacceptable and irresponsible for both the restaurant and the distributor to allow these beers to sit that long. Breweries cannot be everywhere and once someone tries a bad beer, they won’t go for another from that brewery. Shame on this restaurant/liquor store for being a part of...
Read moreWent there with some friends Last night. I was very disappointed. I got a bottle of wine here which was very good but then was charge a 7.00 corkage fee even though we ordered dinner. One of the girls we were with ordered some white wine that was warm. She had told the waiter it was warm I felt the glass it was warm and the waiter said oh you want me to chill it for you? What is up with that white wine should be cold or cool at best. My favorite part was my friend ordered a beer and was charged a 3.00 dollar corkage fee for opening up her beer. I have been to many restaurants that have a winery attached to it Napa, Temecula and ordered bottles of wine with our food and never have been charged a corkage fee if you’re getting the wine through them. I really believe this is just ripping people off. I’m bummed that this place stays in our neighborhood when they clearly are not taking care of their customers. One of my friends ordered a salad which you could barely see the lettuce because it was so covered with dressing. When we asked why we were charged so much plus the corkage fee Even though it was there alcohol, which we were not told prior to ordering We got a lame excuse about it being a service charge whatever that means. Will not be...
Read moreI had been to KnB before and enjoyed the experience. When I decided to have Friday drinks and apps there tonight I was extremely disappointed. There were two major issues.
We ordered the cheese and charcuterie plate. The bread it came with was not only stale - it was MOLDY! We kindly informed the staff and they got us new bread. It was also moldy. We informed the staff again and the third time they finally brought mold-free bread. When the check was brought to our table we were shocked that we were still being charged the full amount for the charcuterie plate with the moldy bread. They didn't even comp our drinks. However, we handed over our card without saying a word. Then, when they brought the card and receipt for signature back they had charged us for another tables meal! A more expensive meal at that! We flagged down our waitress and she agreed to fix the problem. She came back with the receipt for the correct amount - still nothing was comp'd - although she did apologize.
Needless to say, between the moldy bread and poor service, I will not...
