Food is above average. That's the good thing. The bad thing is they're bait-and-switch tactics. Case In point, their own website states that their shrimp burrito is $9.99. When in actuality, it's $16.99. I found this out when I looked at the cash register screen and it said $16.99 VS $9.99. I then pointed this out to the cashier. And she stated that they recently changed the prices and she pointed at the in restaurant menu. I then. Said well, I hope it's a good burrito and she said oh, it is so I go back to work and start eating it. And then I note that the shrimp was actually breaded and not just shrimp. And I can taste that the oil that the shrimp was fried in was stale, as the shrimp had a mild bitterness. Me and some of my coworkers had gone there a few times before. And I always ordered the Marlin tacos which are good. Now, with that said, I made the mistake of going there on Sunday, they had a live band and the music was so insanely loud. I had to practically kiss the order taker so she could hear me. And it was really not a good experience. As I brought my girlfriend there and we couldn't even talk to each other. We had to text each other and we were sitting right across from each other. But she was a good sport about it and even requested a song, until she found out the price for that was going to be $20. So with that said, there are many other places out there, better than this one. And without the bait-and-switch...
Read moreThis place was all around one star. The music is so loud, It's hard to even enjoy your food. Some of my food was good . When I then expressed to the waitress that I did not enjoy my aguaschile because the flavor was off and the shrimp was just not the right texture. She then told me that she needed to have the kitchen inspect my plate to make sure that I didn't eat too much of my food. I let her know that I ate 2 shrimp ,She then comes back and "says we looked over the food, I personally counted, and there's only four shrimp left. ( I can pretty much guarantee that no one counted to make sure there was eight shrimp on my plate before it came to me. But okay )..You know eight minus 2 is 6 so there's already discrepancy there. So apparently either someone can't count or I'm a liar? I guarantee you that when I don't enjoy something, I don't keep eating it. I will say that after the first shrimp I thought maybe the second one will be better..... Well she had a suggestion. I suggest the next time you come. You don't order the aguaschile ,I told her well I've been here before and I've enjoyed the aguaschile which is why I ordered it. But apparently if you don't like something just don't order it. Don't expect them to fix it, change it or...
Read moreWhile in AZ for family, we went to this place per the recommendation of some cousins. Those same cousins came with us and told us to get the platter of shrimp mojo de ajo style. I'm not a big fan of shrimp so I was like, "meh" and ordered the ceviche tostada with scallops and squid... It was pretty good. I was actually surprised by how fresh the seafood was considering we were in Arizona!
I messed up. When their shrimp platters came, the smell alone got me salivating. It was a full platter of large shrimp smothered in garlic goodness. I stole a handful or so from my dad's plate and savored every bite. Those shrimp kicked my tostada's ass. Again, VERY surprised that I can now say my favorite shrimp plate is down in Arizona.
The only reason I give this place a 3 is because everything else we had was alright. The little soup that comes in a cup was okay and had some definite seafood flavor, but...
