Information worth sharing. Went in to make a to-go order and was helped lovely young lady. Multiple keystroke entries and a confirmation read back for our order due to the removal of onion and cilantro on each order. Weird, I know since that’s half of the ingredients this place uses. I leave a significant tip, per usual, assuming all is well. Get home, open up our orders, and they are all smothered in onions and cilantro… my wife calls to let them know of the error, just as a heads up, and the same young lady that took our order was very sweet, apologized, and said they would credit back our card. We thought that was very generous and thanked her, and was told we would need to come back tomorrow to do so. My wife takes them up on the offer, grabs my debit card, and returns the next day, only to be told she needs to come back again when the manager is in. So, she returns the next day, which was today, July 3, and the same man that told her to return was there with “the manager”. Long story short, he told her she would have to had returned with the food, even though it was two days later, and even though the cashier politely asked her to come back the next day, and yet again the following day by the “non manager”, just to be told by the “real manager”, who refused to speak to my wife, but oddly had the other guy translate, just shrugged his shoulders and said no, even though both of his employees were aware of the situation, and asked her to return, two days in a row.
In reality, all they had to do was say sorry and I will try to get our order right the next time. Don’t ask us to come back to refund only if you’re going to waste our time and ask for proof of uneaten food! It’s not the money, we can spare the $60 + for a small local business, but that was incredibly inconsiderate the way he treated the situation. Unfortunately, he offered nothing whatsoever, not even a sorry for getting your order wrong or sorry for having you return twice for zero resolution.
Mr. Manager, please consider putting up a sign stating “if your to-go order is wrong bring it back so we can try to remake it correctly” or just train your staff not to tell your customers to “return for a refund” or better yet do both.. put it next to the sign in front that states “we reserve the right to refuse service” which you clearly did when you blew us off.
The takeaway, if you order to go food, I recommend you check and make sure it’s correct, because you’re stuck with bill, unless you don’t mind driving back there and returning the incorrect order, which is the last thing you want to do after you get home and ready to grub down on some Mexican food!

Read moreTacos Asadero is a hidden gem in Rancho Bernardo! Featuring traditional TJ-style tacos in a no frills taqueria. The tacos are legit and relatively inexpensive. I ordered one Asada and one Adobada and both were excellent. The tacos are pretty small but thoughtfully prepared. I really loved those freshly griddled corn tortillas.
The lady at the counter was somewhat surly and the ordering process is awkward. You’re separated from the cashier by a giant sheet of plexiglass with a speaker/mic system installed, kind of like visiting a bank in a bad neighborhood. We’re in RB, so it’s not a bad neighborhood, maybe a leftover from the ‘rona. Either way I recommend ditching it. At first it was hard to hear the lady so I put my ear close to the speaker at the same time she put her mouth much closer to her mic. She about blew me away! Goodness, my left ear is still ringing.
Anyway, after laying waste to two delicious tacos I felt like I needed to take a shower. After depositing my trash (outside) I headed to the restroom to wash my hands. Unfortunately it’s a one-holer and someone was in there signing the constitution with the door locked. After waiting a few minutes I wound up leaving. I look forward to visiting again soon but will bring my own wet...
Read moreSoooo good! The tortillas are fresh and soft. I've The tried some other places in town and the corn tortillas were dry and disappointing. But here, they were springy and delicious.
The suadero was tender and flavorful and the asadero was bomb. We also tried something with two tortillas and asadero wedged in between with a stretchy cheese. It was amazing! (I cannot remember what it's called-sorry and it wasn't quesadilla) The Al pastor had tons of citrus flavor, too.
Our order also came with some menudo,g radishes,o limes, grilled onions & a pepper. We got carryout and everything was packaged with care. FYI there is a high chair there if you need it.
The menu is straight forward and the staff is kind and helpful if you don't know what something is. Also I noticed that they cleaned the tables right away after they were used (big plus!)
I'll be...
