So I ordered from the app, nothing major just some Cajun fries and a raspberry ice tea, but I always claim my free 2 pieces of chicken and a biscuit which was given to me from Popeyes rewards for completing their survey. Anyway the girl at the register, Leslie had an attitude for some reason which I don't know why, plus she didn't know Popeye policies on how the resteraunt operates. When I got home open the bag to eat I noticed that there was only one piece of chicken and one dried out biscuit, plus my Cajun fries were ice cold. I called and tried to explain what the problem was but Leslie had an attitude again and said " whatever just bring it back". So I got to the restaurant and explained that I only had one piece of chicken, a dried out biscuit and cold Cajun fries. Leslie related the information to a Hispanic female in the back who has prepared it, but she told her in Spanish believing they I as a black man didn't speak or understand that Spanish, but I habla Espanol Todo. The woman working in the back who I believe name was Hadie according to Leslie, told her forget him, and took the food that I had brought back and put the piece of chicken in the microwave, at which time I said I don't want that same piece of chicken, and Leslie said it's not for me, and I said so she going to heat it up and give it to another customer, at which time Leslie sl no that's not she going to do and then she told her in Spanish, cuidado, be careful he's watching and saw you put it in the microwave. So this woman, Hadie took the bag that had the food in it that she was making for me, further in the back of the restaurant as she constantly kept looking at me and as I was trying to see why she took the bag with the food in the back, then a few minutes later she came back out of the back with a smile on her face, called Leslie and said here give him this. I know that she did something to my food because why would she go to the back with my food, there was a guy in the back that cooks the chicken and he was right there if she needed more chicken, but like I said I believe she did something to my food. So with all that happened I could not eat my food because I know that she did something shady with it. So be careful of the Popeyes chicken on Valley and San Gabriel, they are scandalous and vindictive and will spit or worse in your food. I don't recommend that store to anyone, especially since they think that they are smart speaking Spanish believing that you don't speak or understand what they're saying, and can do evil stuff...
Read moreThe cashier is always super nice. I don't mind that the cook gets my orders right only half the time. I just have to double-check when I receive my order. They usually just give me what I order on top of all the food they give me by mistake. One time, I ordered mashed potatos as a side to my chicken tender combo meal but they gave me a huge plateful of fries and shrimp instead. They just gave me a side of mash and let me keep all the fries + shrimp that cost more. Everything is tasty and they're always nice so I never complain. The wait can be a bit long since only one person is making everything but I would say the wait is as long or less than In-N-Out. I think they just misread more complex tickets with more than 1 item because the guy that ordered a sandwich before me got his within 2 minutes of ordering. He finished his meal before I even got mine.
Parking can be a bit of a pain at peak times and watch out for people stealing your bag of food right when you get outside or saying you hit them with your car when they purposely walk into your car and kick your tire, lay on your hood when your car isn't even moving as you wait for oncoming traffic to clear to get out of the driveway. They work in teams, where one will hide behind the cars parked on the side and target weaker looking people with nicer cars. I just pointed to my car camera and my phone dialing the police station nearby, told them I was calling the police to make sure everything was handled properly thru my window in their primary language and they ran away before I had to get out of my car. What was my brunch became a good 3 meals...
Read more[8/2022 Update]: Had to knock off one star. There was a management change sometime in the last twelve months or so. At first, I didn't notice the differences, as they were subtle. I ordered a family meal last night. Most everything was good. However, the Cajun fries are definitely not what they used to be. They used to be slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They used to be properly seasoned and tasty. Today (and I hope it's just today), the fries were soggy. Didn't taste fresh. They were saltier and lacked some of the other seasoning we're used to. I'll bring the star rating back if things improve the next time I swing by.
2019 Review: It's a small Popeye's but the food is consistently good here. The chicken is made fresh to order (at least when we come here). The fries are also made fresh to order and are quite good here. Not overdone and perfectly seasoned. I have never had a problem with the staff here. They're extremely patient even with the customers who don't speak a lick of English. The clientele in this neighborhood is about 60% Asian. The staff at this Popeye's is mostly Latino. So you can imagine communication can become an issue. It's particularly busy on Tuesday because they have a Leg/Thigh Tuesday special. I was tempted to remove one star because the A/C is weak in the heat of the Summer. Perhaps their system could use more refrigerant since the flow becomes weak (coils may be freezing up). We still love this location though, but the parking can sometimes get scarce...
