This dump is run by fraudulent extortionists.
On November 16th I payed $355.28 on the Hopper App with the assistance of a hopper representative on the phone with me based on an advertisement showing a 2 bed hotel room.
I needed the room to accommodate my two cousins who flew in from over seas.
I payed my money in good faith based on previous satisfactory experiences via the hopper app.
There was no indication what so ever that I would receive anything other than what I was paid for which was a 2 bed hotel room.
The confirmation I received from hopper which also did not in anyway indicate that I would receive anything other that what I was promised in the advertisement, a 2 bed hotel room.
Upon arrival the hotel representative asked me for a $40 deposit even though my room had been fully paid for on the Hopper app.
I produced my card and paid the $40. She gave me a key to the room and I luged my luggage up the dirty stair case on the side of the building.
I found it she had given me a small stinky room with no insulation from the freeway noise outside and it had only one bed in it.
I went back downstairs and asked the hotel representative to change my room to the room that I had paid for via the app. She told me there are no more 2 bed rooms available.
Of course, I let her know that that was not acceptable. She eventually brought another woman out to the front.
The second woman told me that if I paid about 30% more, she could give me the room I had already booked and paid for via the hopper app.
This attempt by the hotel representative to extort an extra fee that was not agreed upon when I paid via the hopper app was again wholly inappropriate and predatory.
Considering I arrived, fairly late in the evening I believe they thought I would have no choice but to comply.
I asked for a refund. They told me I would have to get the refund from the hopper app.
I ended up booking a room at the Bokai Garden Hotel via a simple Google search. This cost about 10% more, but had a much larger room, much cleaner, and had 2 much larger beds.
It turns out Hopper does not have a customer service line. I had to send several emails to get any response.
A hopper sent me back messages, indicating that it was not their problem and that I had to take it up with the hotel.
Hoppers complicity in this fraudulent extortion is wholly inappropriate and predatory. I would stay away from this app as well.
This whole disgusting interaction put a huge dampener on what should’ve been a very joyous reunion and really discolored my families opinion of the United States.
Eventually, Hopper agreed to refunded an about 60% of my money, but continues to insist that there was not wrong done.
I now know that the Hopper app adds no value to the travel experience what so ever. Had I just looked on Google or yelp I would have seen real reviews, steered clear and not have paid twice for accommodations.
The budget in at 1924 S San Gabriel Blvd San Gabriel, CA 91776 is a rubbish dump run by criminals less trustworthy than the cockroaches that infest that cesspool.
The whole thing is utterly...
Read moreDon't bother going to this hotel. Really bad costumer service and rooms, two major parts which make up for a good hotel. You'll regret booking here.||||The hotel was easily accessible by car.||||First off, regarding amenities: It appears that they don't even have a water boiler, and the Indian lady at the counter informed me that the phone in the hotel room only calls to 1-800 numbers. We had those to-go macaroni & cheese boxes, and despite implying that this was our DINNER, she continued to refuse with a stern "no" to boil some water, or even bother to help prepare the mac and cheese. What a joke.||||Don't let me get started on the rooms. I noticed that the bed cover appeared to have a burned stain on them. There were constantly children from another room on the top floor (where our room was) who were running and yelling. The airconditioning blew cold air, but for some reason, still failed to cool the (SMALL) room. The bathtub is simply gross, with hair and other human deposits on the side of the bathtub. Gross.||||Please just spend another 5 minutes of your time looking for a better hotel. That really is worth your time. It's only got 1 star because of it's location. Funny thing is, you can find a superior hotel in the area which you will LOVE for around $35 more. ||||P.S. In case you were wondering, we had other food in the car which we managed to...
Read moreMy longtime friend came to town to visit his Mum who is critically ill in hospital and needed someplace nearby and not too costly so he went online to look for a place. || According to my friend, online, "The place looked like a palace." Inside was another story. He meant to spend that night but had a nap and hoofed it back to the hospital-preferring to catnap in waiting room chairs over a room with rust stains on the bath towels, mold on the shower head and toilet paper you could truly see through. Speaking of the toilet, the seat was barely hanging on by a thread-the threads of one toilet-seat bolt, it's mate nowhere to be seen. || As for the outside, I took a pass by a few days ago just to see the outside and I have to admit I certainly wouldn't pay to stay there. Judging THIS book by it's cover, the sign was old, the neighbourhood an indication of renting the rooms by the hour, and the driveway was just a few feet off the 10fwy off ramp. You blink, you miss it. Park at Carl's Jr, risk a tow, so you make 2 U-Turns and luck on try #2. || Frankly, I'd keep looking, it's not worth it. ||And a VERY bad impression for the sweet City of San Gabriel, which has some lovely churches and...
