Sadly, this restaurant now starts to use freeze burnt meat in their dumplings. The reason why I'm very familiar with freeze burnt meat is that I tried it before when I didn't want to throw away the whiteish cracked surface of the meat which can make you feel scratchy in the throat. Freeze burns happen after meat is frozen for over 5 or 6 months. Freezer burn draws out moisture and flavor and hence affects the overall quality of the dumplings no matter how much MSG they put in the meat. When I called them to complain about it, they first tried to convince me that I might have confused their restaurant with another one located at 120 E Valley Blvd # A, San Gabriel, CA 91776. When I told her that the address on the packaging is 600 E. Valley Blvd # A, San Gabriel, CA 91776, she then asked me why I didn't check when I just bought it. Excuse me, but who on earth would open a raw dumplings to check to see if the ground meat is freeze burnt? How can one tell by just looking at the ground meat mixed with other ingredients without tasting it? Was I supposed to eat the raw meat? She was not even apologetic and simply hung up the phone. Extremely Rude. Also, the label of the packaging is misleading which says 30 pieces but only 20 pieces in reality. Overall, this restaurant has poor service with bad quality of the food. Not...
Read moreFirst time visiting this shop and I love it. Unfortunately the only downside to the place is the noodle, it was very soggy and did not have the bouncy texture to the noodle. However the sauce of the noodle and the tenderness of the beef in my noodle was spot on. I added an egg and it had the taste! The two side dishes I ordered was also very good! Portion was huge for every item I ordered. But the pig ear was $16.99 which was pretty expensive but it has a big portion. They also have this buy one get one free Vietnamese coffee. It wasn’t very sweet so it was to my taste.
Service was excellent!! Which made me not understand the table behind mine only tipped the waitresses 10 cents?! Is that even possible? That’s worse than giving no tip. I was made for the waitress who was the only person working in the front by herself. Doing the take out to ordering sit down customers to serving walk in customers just here buying ready to eat food. I understand tipping is optional and it’s base on the waiters performance, but they’re also human and trying to make a living....
Read more@dandan.guilinricenoodle in San Gabriel, California, takes the quality of their dishes and ingredients so pridefully and for good reason. With a fusion of mostly traditional Chinese flavors from Guilin, a city in China's southern Guangxi province, with a modern twist (hello, bacon), I unexpectedly took my (along with my mom's) tastebuds on trip down memory lane. The dishes we enjoyed were ones that my grandmother used to ALWAYS order for the table when she was alive
We will be coming back super soon, as DanDan, the sweet owner, made us feel right at home and treated us like we were already family The plethora of regulars coming through as we were dining shows that you can not get anything like this anywhere else in LA. There are even frozen options in their freezers if you really want to enjoy their incredibly nostalgic dishes at the comfort of your own home
We had: Cold Lemon Tea, Cold Chrysanthemum Tea, Hot & Spicy Pig Ears, Cold Dish Sampler, Ultimate Noodle, and House Hot & Sour Beef...
