I played here Monday and drove up to see a fire on the course the fire department was out and handled the situation within the hour and unfortunately was pushed back an hour on my tee time. This wasn't an issue and was out of anyone's control and the clubhouse staff was very apologetic and professional and explained why due to safety concerns. Would give a 5 star review for the staff.
However I don't go to a golf course for the staff and here are the major issues i saw. The range it's self is in terrible condition dead patchy grass, Sandless bunkers and pin locations on the chipping green that haven't been moved for years. I can tell because grass is growing over the hole its self. The chipping green also had pitchmarks all over. The bunkers were pancaked and had no sand on top of that they were filled with water at 2 in the afternoon in the middle of summer.
The range grass was butchered and had three differnce grass types growing all in different conditions I saw people in stalls ahead of me hitting off dried dirt. The rangeballs themselves were very poor majority of my $9 small bucket had blade marks from a lawnmower and the other had zero dimples on the golfballs. This is unacceptable buy some new rangeballs.
The putting greens were in good condition and rolled well without an issue the greens keepers did a good job.
Getting up to the tee box I checked in with the started and he pointed me to the Valley tee box and go on with my round. This is where I toped of my water bottle because I walk and would be the only location on the entire golfcourse except for the snack shack water fountain for school children. If this is going to be the only on course location for water without going to the shack itself (which was closed due to the 4 cut of time, you need something else) At least a bottle fill station not a water fountain you use at a middle school.
I hit my tee shot into the right hand bunker go figure(but hey only time i land in one the entier round) The sand in this bunker was the same as the range pancaked and filled with little rocks as I was walking by bunkers later in the round they were all the same however I did not see any standing water on the course like the range bunkers.
The greens were very hit or miss either great condition or patchy, suffering from a fungus or dryed out. This was a bit disappointing and I expected more out of this golf course.
The fairways, tees, first cut and second cut were in good conditions for summer.
The two things this course had zero of was water pitchers and golf ball washers. The reason why I am making such a big deal is that this course at one point had had great sand, ball washers, and water on every 4 holes. I know this because this course used to be my colleges home course to practice as in 2019 and this was all in great shape and loved it. However today I cannot say the same.
This course is not worth the $100-60 price point. I wouldn't even by happy paying $50 in its current condion with the sand and poor greens.
Overall this course needs alot of work if it's going to be called a golf course. It's beautifully set up but the conditions themselves are terrible and I would much rather take my business to Cinnabar hills for the same price and if I wanted to spend less I would go to Santa Teresa for the same conditions at...
Read moreI am responding to the reply I received (allegedly from the owner). His/ her claim that the manager offered me alternative walking tee times is a very shallow and unacceptable response. The “alternative” I was given was to try to book the tee time I wanted 24 hours in advance of the tee time. The chances of getting that tee time is slim and none 24 hours in advance. The “owner” also makes the excuse that the reason the premium tee times are reserved for online riding bookings is to maintain balance on the course. That makes no sense. If a golfer wants to ride, they will book a tee time with a cart. Why should golfers that want a cart receive preferential treatment? The answer is simple, the course wants more revenue. Greed is the motivation, not balance on the course. Terrible customer service.
I do not recommend playing at this course because the course policy is very customer unfriendly. I’ve played the Valley course many times. The course itself is reasonably well maintained, though the pace can be slow at times. However the customer service is awful. To begin with the only way to book a walking tee time is to call into the pro shop. Most of the time you’re redirected to the answering service which can’t book walking tee times and as a result you need to wait on hold until someone from the pro shop is available. This is irritating, but I’ve accepted the process a poor customer service, but something I would deal with. I tried booking a walking tee time for 1/5/2025 on the Valley course, but was told by the person at the pro shop whom identified himself as the manager, that the tee time I wanted was reserved for online bookings only. Meaning the course policy forced me to book a riding tee time even though I wanted a walking tee time. The manager told me if I wanted that tee time for walking I had to call 24 hours in advance. I know from experience that the chances that tee time (7:55) would be available 24 hours in advance were very slim. Just terrible customer service and a show of greed by the course. I’ve never experienced anything like that at any other course I’ve played...
Read moreI feel bad giving the Golden Bear only 3 stars but when I take the time to remember how the management team operates here I am quickly reminded why and as a matter of fact the more I think about how poorly managed this place is I am tempted to take down to 2 stars but can’t do that out of respect to Jack. Hey coyote creek management here’s an idea, and i know it’s going to sound completely crazy, but how about you tell your Marshall’s to ACTUALLY REGULATE PACE OF PLAY! If beginners are left to their own devices they will just slow down to create artificial space with the group in front of them. This ill advised, poor excuse for etiquette trickles down and create a course that is literally operating as fast as the slowest group of hacks out there! That’s not how it’s supposed to work, obviously that initially slow group should be sped up so there is no need for others to slow down which low and behold facilitates what? Say it with me coyote staff, an “ACCEPTABLE PACE OF PLAY!!” It’s not rocket science and for $100+ it should be the minimum amount of service provided.
Also how about us paying customers who are forking out over $100 get a separate section o. The range or at least have some stalls reserved! I shouldn’t have to forfeit warming up before an expensive round because some d bag needs to hit 3 buckets of balls because he wants to show off to his tinder date. Get it together coyote, Jack’s legacy deserves...
