Garden’s Gate Cafe — Restaurant in San Jose

The atmosphere and waitress were amazing and friendly. Very welcoming and good customer service. No complaints. Coffee was passable, decent blend, not too dark and not to light, no bitterness mostly aroma 5/5. Plating was creative and vibrant. However, the palate was unmanageable. Ube pancakes were too moist and kept sticking to the top of the mouth. Meat lovers' omelet was passable by norm standards. French toast platters texture was too moist, completely unpalatable. French toast and banana bread lost texture due to plating (too much crowding in one area). Kudos for whiskey sauce, clever and well fitting for the dish. Overall, this restaurant is creative. However, lacks skills to keep up with performance/ expectations...

This place is tucked into what I think is a condo complex/mixed use space. Easy to find if you know where to look.

The food is pretty good. My omelet was bland, I really wanted the flavors to come through with more gusto. I think with a bit more experience things will get better. I’ll go back and try their lunch offerings.

We had such a good meal here! The service was on point and the vibe is super chill, which I really appreciated. Plus the prices don’t make you wince when the check comes.

Got the avocado toast with poached eggs and loved how they wrapped the eggs in lettuce to keep everything together. Such a smart touch. The toast itself was perfectly crispy and the avocado was actually ripe (you know how hit or miss that can be).

We ordered the smoked salmon and wow, they really load it up. None of that stingy portioning you see at some places. Fresh salmon, good quality, tons of it.

Everything just worked. Good food, fair prices, relaxed spot. We’ll definitely be back...
