Horrible Customer Service.
I celebrated my 50th Birthday there with 29 family members. None of the staff speaks to each other, or has the same information, the wait staff gave inaccurate information which left me with a bill of $1050 after it was said and done, and the General Manager, Tonya Michaels refused to help us.
After listing at least five mistakes made on the restaurants part, the General Manager, Tonya Micheals refused to attempt to make any of the issues right with us.
She said her staff told her their renditions of the story, and she does not think they did anything wrong.
I have hosted large parties there before, under different Management, and we did not have any issues.
They refused to disclose the price id the meals before my guest began ordering, even after requesting several times for them to announce the cost for the food. My boyfriend had to announce the cost to guest because the staff would not.
They gave two prawns in a plate full of noodles for $53, and when I requested more prawns, they brought more and assured me I would not be charged. Guess what? I was charged.
I was told guest would be able to pick something off the regular menu should they not like the three choices offered. Once arrived, I was told they weren’t supposed to have that option, but they would honor it since someone told me that info. The Manager then told me the staff who told me that information would be fired that night, and would be “Toast.” He disclosed this info right in front of my entire party, and then spun off and walked away.
We asked the waitress were the taxes and gratuity included in the final Bill they brought us. She said they were. Guess what? It was not. They later furnished another bill after the fact for an entirely different amount.
I asked the servers to collect the dinner cost from each guest, and to not use the $750 deposit they held on my credit card.
They began taking individual payments from the first few guest, and then stopped. They advertised for people to order More “Free Food” to make the $1500 minimum, and then stuck me, the host, with the bill despite me requesting the collect the monies from the guest who ordered.
After speaking to Alexis Perez, the person who assisted me with booking, she, nor the General Manager, Tonya Michaels, were understanding of our issues or willing to help.
They basically told me to contact my guest and figure it out with them because they served our guest and did nothing wrong.
Horrible, horrible customer service !
Horrible experience, and me, Nor my guest, will ever eat...
Read moreI recently attended a going away party for a dear friend and Horatio's was my friend's restaurant of choice. If you enjoy seafood- then this is the place for you. Conveniently located in the San Leandro Marina, there is lots of parking all around the restaurant.
Walking in I see the host desk and lots of indoor seating inside. There's seating at the bar, inside the restaurant and in the back of the place for larger parties. There's plenty of windows all around so no matter where you sit, you've got a great view of the Marina. After dining, there are walking trails if you want to take a stroll around the Marina and the interior decor gives nautical vibes.
They boast an extensive menu depending on the time/day that you come (including lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktail and happy hour). Our party of 15 showed up on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30. Our servers, McGyver (like the TV show) and Glenna were so personable, attentive and full of great menu suggestions. Pricing for lunch runs about $10-$35 which is about normal and in my opinion a good deal considering the quality of the food and portion sizes.
Our servers suggested the Lunch Box special -for $25 you can order two items from (2) menus of an appetizer, soup, salad, sandwich or two entrees. I decided to go for the clam chowder and the seafood pesto pasta which was highly recommended. Here's my breakdown:
STARTERS: We were served warm garlic bread immediately and it was right on time. Usually, I try not to fill up on the bread but I couldn't resist.... a nice slather of garlicky butter rested on top of the crust and the bread was nice, warm and soft- came with a plate of oils and herbs. YUM!
ENTREES: I am a huge fan of clam chowder and this didn't disappoint. I got the cup and it was full of flavor and clams like I enjoy- the potatoes were diced pretty small but I really liked it overall.
I'm also not a big pasta girl but the seafood pesto pasta was highly recommended by both servers so I trusted their expertise and they were right. The portion was so big I had to take 1/2 of it to go- it was filled with lots of salmon, asparagus, artichokes, carrots and fettucine noodles in a thick creamy sauce. Very flavorful!
My friend orders the same thing each time she comes- it was an herb crusted chicken dish with creamy mashed potatoes and spinach. Going around the table, everyone mentioned how much they enjoyed their dishes.
This is a great location for groups, a first date or a happy hour meet up with friends....
Read moreWe went to the restraunt on a Thursday night; we called a head to see if we needed a reservation but the host said he would take care of us. We drove up here and found parking pretty easily, we walked in and talked to the host, he remembered that we called and we were seated immediately, but where we were seated was kind of dark, it might of been to make it more romantic but it was a little hard to read the menu. The staff is great and attentive, even thou it was super busy. The waiter came to our table gave us our menus and told us to take our time, we took our time on the menu as they had a great menu with a nice selection of foods. We decided we wanted the crab and artichoke dip and lobster bisque to start, the shrimp and crab fettucini to share and the salmon plate for me, as well as the steak plate for my partner for our entree. To drink I ordered the rose colored lenses from the cocktail menu (which was one of the most delicious cocktails i have had) and my partner order Coca-Cola with dinner. Once we made our order it took about 12-15 minutes to get our starters. The dip was delicious, it had a great amount of crab and artichoke in it, it tasted fresh and full of flavor. The lobster bisque was ok, it didn't have enough spices to accentuate the flavors of the lobster it was just very creamy. We received the fettucini next, it was so good, the pasta and sea food was in a luscious buttery cream sauce which was smooth and had a great combination of flavors that complemented each other. We then received our entrees, the salmon for me which came with a side of vegetables and the fish was on top of the rice, I liked the vegetables they were sautéed and were absolutely delicious, the rice was a little dry and a little bland but the fish was lightly crispy, flaked of very nicely and had a fresh taste to it. The steak came with a side of asparagus and a large potatoe. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium and was delicious, the asparagus and potatoe was actually flavorless. The asparagus was wilted which I personally believe should be crisp and the potatoe should of either been diced with a lemon rosemary sauce tossed in it or I rather of had a mashed potatoe with the steak. All in all I would go to this restaurant again, it had great staff, ambiance, view, drinks and most of the...
