BlackHorse Espresso & Bakery — Restaurant in San Luis Obispo

I went in Monday afternoon probably about 130 when it wasn't very busy to talk to the manager and have a cup of coffee. When I walked in the door another customer finished up her order and stepped away so when I stepped up to the register I thought I would receive service. Instead, the Clerk of Barista that had been at the register step aside 2 talk for quite a while with the customer that had been served before me. Talking about things like school and plans and such I got an earful before she finally turned her attention to me. I felt it would have been appropriate for her to tell the other person I'll be right back with you after I take care of this customer. Instead, she finished her conversation and then came over to ask me what I needed. She answered my question about the manager and then I left because I felt I had been ignored long enough that they did not deserve my business. I will not bother going back here or recommending this location. My intention was to talk to the manager about allowing a group of us 2 have a meeting there in a couple weeks which would have brought much more business on a slow day but because of this cashier they have lost this and all future meeting business that I could have...

PROS: Warm, friendly, inviting and lively. There is even a fireplace! Young, but super efficient staff. They put in WORK! Good lighting and lots of windows Fun, local artwork that you can purchase Good offerings of caffeinated beverages and a nice spread of pastries Good seating (if available). It's POPPIN' here! Lots of outlets for charging devices Good location with eateries and shops around.

CONS: The free wifi sucks. It's awful and frustrating - an absolute NIGHTMARE. Impossible to get work done without getting timed out and kicked off the internet. A semi-decent place for working (if you don't need wifi), but can be loud. Bring headphones unless you want to listen in on lots of conversations happening around you Breakfast panini is on the small side for the price compared to other places I've been to.

Honestly, if the wifi situation here was better and more reliable, this place would be amazing. For someone like myself who telecommutes, a coffee shop with solid wifi is GOLD. Unfortunately, I can't come back here as frequently as I'd like because I wouldn't be able to get...

this place is normally highly recommended, but I went in and didn’t have a very good experience. My drink was over 50% foam. I wouldn’t mind some foam normally but when you’re spending $6 for a drink I do like having more then a shots worth of liquid in my 20 oz cup… The drink itself was delicious, there just was barely any of it. Also got a breakfast panini. It was pretty bland and the tomato overpowered everything in it. The tomato, enough said. Anyways, I’m sure I just came in on an off day but a place this established and highly rated shouldn’t have this much of an off day. Also, the music was loud enough I couldn’t hear the staff very well when ordering, they might also just not talk loud or clearly enough. Lastly, the staff were singing along to every single song quite loudly. It was a little obnoxious and very annoying.

So for future customers, ask for NO foam and be picky on what food you order. Besides that you can’t go wrong with their drinks, the flavours are there you just have to take steps to...
