Golden Bell Donuts — Restaurant in San Mateo

After discussing this place with folks multiple times, decided to look it up and leave a review.

Exactly what you want from a local bakery. Open early and still open after noon. It has been years since I visited them, but I'm still 'chasing that high' from having some of their cronuts while on vacation with my family in San Mateo.

If I'm ever in the San Fran area again I'll be making the detour to visit them. And I recommend any pastry lovers in the area or passing through...

This place is an absolute gem for early morning breakfast. Their doors open as early as 4:30 am, catering perfectly to early risers. Small unassuming shop on the corner, you'd never guess from the look of the place that the donuts are fresh and amazing. Google says they open at 4 but it's actually 4:30 usually. I've had the glazed, the old fashioned/old fashioned chocolate, and the cake donuts (along with the complimentary donut holes) and they were all superb.
