Probably my newest favorite chinese restaurant!! The portions are huge here with some really authentic dishes. After finding this place through yelp, I've ordered take out here many times already.
Some dishes I would highly recommend are: salt pepper fish, salt pepper pork chop, braised tofu w black mushrooms, and taishan eel clay pot rice (for a really authentic dish; they put the clay pot rice really cleanly into the to-go box). Other dishes that I've tried that were also really good were: sweet and sour pork/fish, chow mein, and chow fun. These dishes I would avoid: xiao long bao (they were broken when we got them) and pork with preserved vegetables noodle soup (was a bit disappointed in the taste).
Other than those few dishes we didn't like, the other dishes we've ordered were amazing. We were always impressed with the portions. The prices are decent and I am so glad that I've found this...
Read moreThey still have Cantonese items, but it's pretty clear they've decided to cater to the crowd who orders Chinese-American food, like chow mein and General Tso's chicken. Not a bad thing, but turns it into a completely different type of restaurant. One of the menus was English-only even. Dead on a Sunday night - heard a few phone orders but there were only 2 tables of diners.
Not dirt cheap - 者者滑雞煲 was $9.95 but tasted really good with 臘腸! 海鮮蒸蛋白was $10.95 and a bit on the bland side, but a big portion with shrimp, cut up scallops, and sliced bamboo shoots. Although they didn't give free soup, like most of these dinner Chinese places do, they gave 西米露 at the end, and that was milky and delicious.
One of the Chinese waiters asked me if I spoke English when I asked if they have a Chinese menu, ha, infuriating.
No free rice, each person cost $1+, ugh. Takes credit. In a sleepy plaza with plenty of...
Read moreIt's difficult to find a really good Chinese restaurant. We decided to try this one out and it didn't make the mark. First, it looks beat up. The interior is dark, the menus books are worn and dirty and it all looks sad. But that didn't mean the food wouldn't be good. However, it did not measure up.
We got Salt and Pepper Pork Chops and Beef Chow Fun. The portions were large. The meat in the Chow Fun was was chewy and the noodles lacked flavor. The chops had an okay flavor but they were all kinds of sizes, some with sharp bone pieces and there were little pieces of breading with no meat inside. The meal was filling but...
