Cheap eats・Great food This is the first time that we visited LOS MEZQUITES, we weren't expecting it to be so busy! Don't expect a nice restaurant, this place has dirt floors, old tables, and it looks like a simple taco place that grew a bit over time.
The breakfast buffet was beyond our expectations! The delicious birria, the amazing potatoes with chorizo, the beans with cheese, tortillas, menudo, fresh fruit, pancakes...Gosh!
Everything was sooo good! And all for just 9 dollars! Me and my husband ate so much we ended up with "Food Coma" we could barely walk out and felt it was one of the best breakfasts ever! We will definitely be back! 😍🥰🤩👏👍
Things to consider before you go: After 9 am is CROWDED! We were there during the cool months, inside seating was a bit warm, outside is a bit fresher, but not as many seats. I am not sure how that would work during the summer. Actually, I wouldn't even try to imagine that!
People are super friendly! And VERY BUSY, so please help a little by picking up your garbage.
Go there hungry, you won't...
Read moreWe went during Sunday brunch. Food was good, but not worth the $16 rate per plate given the poor seating arrangement and inevitable chaos. The place doesn’t have any flooring, it’s nothing but dirt/rocks and the place smells as such. When I turn around I see a huge black widow spider on the back of my chair (literally inches away from my back). We did not enjoy our meals after noticing the critter and when we brought it to the attention of an employee (who understood us perfectly as we speak Spanish), he neglected to address the issue and simply looked at us blankly, without any response. Will not be returning to this establishment, don’t care how good...
Read moreLate review, since I ate here back in March, but in trying to remember it's name I realized I hadn't left a review. It could have just been the day, but the meal I had here was a top five meal of all time for me. I've traveled to 49 states and this is the Mexican food I dream of. We had the Cabeza and Steak tacos and a caramello and obviously made good use of their superb salsa / toppings bar, and the experience of the food and atmosphere is right up there with gamjatang in Seoul or cacio e pepe in Roma. Awesome spot, dirt floors with a porta potty out back and smokers out front. I did a lot of Sonoran food in Tucson, but Los Mezquites is the spot I will never forget. I'll be back as...
