China Lee — Restaurant in Sandusky

I went there with a friend of mine and from first sight I knew that I was going to be disappointed it had a very poorly kept exterior with an incredibly small parking lot on the inside they had a very vibrant and colorful setup but I don't know if this was just because Chinese new year was only a little while before then the dining room was incredibly small I kept bumping elbows with everybody around me as did my friend I ordered egg roll wonton soup and the Kung Bo chicken which it had a little red pepper next to indicating that it would be spicy while my friend order the same egg roll and wonton soup but with sesame chicken letter start with the egg grills they were primarily bean sprouts with no cabbage or anything else discernible in it they used way too much cornstarch or did not dissolve it properly before putting into the mix and making them taste almost powdery The Wonton soup was the only part of the meal I actually enjoyed was very flavorful broth and decent wontons which had me a little more hopeful that the meal might not be bad but then they brought the main dishes out and from first sight you can tell they had no idea what they were doing all of the green vegetables like the broccoli bedding that was underneath the her sesame chicken and all of the peas in mine we're very clearly cooked in too much baking soda giving them an almost fake looking green color but I still figured I would try it anyways the fried rice was Bland and after two bites I could not eat anymore of my main meal it looked like something you would get in a premade frozen meal and in my opinion I have had frozen meals that tasted better and despite the fact they claimed it was hot on the menu I felt that had absolutely no kick to it at all my friends sesame chicken however turned out to be pretty fair with almost too big of chunks of chicken for such a remote location you really can't complain too much it's not like you're going to find a five star restaurant but even if it was in my own backyard I would not suggest going...

I've spent most of my life in Sanilac county and I've driven by this place many times, but finally decided to try it. My wife and I tried carryout on 2 separate dishes on 2 separate weekends. The first time we had the Steak Cow which was pretty good, and the egg roll was also pretty good, so we decided we were going to try it again.

The second time we tried the Almond Chicken which was amazing. While the almond sauce in the Fort Gratiot China Lite is more flavorful, the chicken and breading at China Lee blow it out of the water. I've never had a piece of breaded chicken where the oil was so light (almost like it was olive oil) while still having a crunchy breading. Every piece of chicken was completely white meat, juicy, and perfectly cooked. There was no fat or any other undesirable traces of anything in the chicken. If Gordan Ramsey made a gourmet chicken nugget, this is what it would have tasted like.

The egg roll was equally crunchy and flavorful. I'm not a rice fan, but my wife is and she couldn't stop eating it. Beware, the inside of the restaurant is very small, but I did see a buffet inside on a Friday night, so I may have to try eating inside one time.

This place by far is hands down the BEST for Chinese food.

Food: We were very impressed. Did not think it would be as good as it was. Chicken was juicy and crunchy (General Tso chk). Sauce was very flavorful and amazing. Friend Jumbo shrimp was jumbo size and also cooked superbly. We got the sweet/sour sauce to go with it and again sauce was very flavorful. Fried rice was as expected. Wonton soup amazing! 👏 HIGHLY recommend giving this place a try.

Atmosphere: Nice. A little bit loud. Could have music playing but they don't. Seating is limited. Has about 10 tables or so. Looks dated but still decent.

Staff: On top of her game. Can't remember her name but she was great. She was quick to greet us, take order, and get food to table. Hostess and all staff was nice, friendly, and helpful.

Cleanliness: Not eye appealing but it was nice, just dated. Did not use bathroom so can't comment on that. Dishes and silverware were all clean. Tables and chairs were well...
