Bay Breeze Seafood — Restaurant in Sanford

Due to having enjoyable service, we wanted to give 5 stars but deducting 2 stars, details included. Borderline, almost lose 3 stars (near 2.5). We have ate at this business only 2 times. We will probably go again sometime. Outlining our experience below.

#1 Sticky! The biggest factor in rating is lack of 'cleanliness'. Out of two visits, the place feels dirty, gritty, dusty and both the Tables and Menus are VERY SUPER STICKY. If you touch it, you will stick to it. If your clothes touch it, expect in some instances to have to wash them sooner than planned.

#2 Level of Service: The first visit we had was literally 'amazing' service! Drinks never empty, food hot, coffee 'actually' fresh. Second visit not as good. Coffee was absolutely NOT fresh (yet everyone said it was). Tasted burnt, strong, old and not so hot. Attitude from both servers was very enjoyable though.

#3 Timeliness: in getting drinks (2nd visit) refilled or getting to the table was often not as quick as we are used to. Especially considering both visits, they did not 'appear' overly busy, parking lot less than half-filled, at the most.

#4 Food: The food is generally good. Although I tried the fried shrimp which tasted and smelled very 'fishy' as we are not used to that. Can imply dirty, old, or oil NOT changed in time. Salad and Ranch dressing were great! They could cut the lettuce a bit more - its a job to cut it yourself. Coleslaw was VERY WARM and tasted horrible. Please, I expect COLD cole-slaw.

#5 Future: If the two servers were not so good, we probably would not go back due to a few menu items not smelling or tasting so fresh and the very STICKY dirty tables, etc.

#6 Lastly, it does appear there are sometimes a lot of 'other staff' hanging around talking and when you walk by you don't get much acknowledgement but they are not afraid to throw out a "thank you for coming" to your "back" as you are already walking out the door.

Overall - pretty good for the area, intend to go back, hope they clean up the tables and menus, continue encouraging 'care' in the employees so that the 'genuine' smiles and effort brighten the place up.

The service is amazing! Kind, warm, friendly environment. The plate expecially kids plates had a surprisingly big portion! BLOOMING ONION AND KIDS PORTIONS FOR THE WIN! The price was great! However it was unfortunate that the cleaning effort made on the food turned alot of it off for me. My boiled crabs clusters still had the insides (of crab/green stuff) on the one on the bottom of the plate so I felt like it was definitely see but ignored. Some of my other choices in seafood tasted like they were not washed very well prior to cooking very well. Tasted a bit Little mushy Yes I still ate it but I also grew up near the water where seafood is something we eat alot of so I ate around it to try the quality. Decent quality but when it's not washed right it replenishes the quality. Just moving forward please wash a Little better. But they have alot of business which does speak itself and the vibes are was very happy and friendly. Clean food and presentation on all the food is key however the quality in seafood wasn't aweful but overall could have been a Little cleaner tasting all together this would enhance...

I bought my mom here for Mother's Day. It was a nice crowd there and they were quite busy. However we didn't have to wait a long time for a seat. The waitress was attentive to us and checked on us from time to time. My problem is with whomever is cooking the food. I ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Problem #1 the shrimp was not deveined and my mom said she saw some grit down close to the tail of the shrimp. She only ate one shrimp and her stomach started hurting. She didn't eat anymore of the shrimp cocktail. I think my husband got food poisoning because he has been running to the bathroom ever since we got home. His stomach is rumbling. Thank God I didn't get sick. When we got home my mom and I tossed our leftovers in the trash. I did like the hush puppies. I'm from Maryland and I like seasoning (old bay) on my seafood not the tasteless red seasoning they put on your seafood. Other than that, I think they just need to make sure the food is fresh because you can't play around with fish because anyone...
