A year ago a small girl behind the counter tried to kick me out for not wearing shoes. She stated she has told me several times when in fact, I've never had anyone in all my years there mention it. I said it was not a law that I couldn't go in barefoot. She said it was and rudely said, This is a restaurant maam'" I said, it is not a law. I should know. I'm a barefooter. She kept mumbling rudely and walked away and hid in the back. I still go in barefoot to this day. I don't touch things with my barefeet other than the floor. People touch things with their germy hands all the time.
I never, ever say anything, but there seems to only be two girls that ever get our orders correct and we (my family and I) order the same thing 90% of the time! One of the girls is now gone so it is a risk every time we go in. One of the most recent visits we had, we literally waited up to 45 minutes for an ice cream and finally cancelled the order and left. Some had been waiting an hour. It was Memorial Day weekend so quite busy, but go to other ice cream parlors that are equally as busy and you'll never have to wait that long.
I have a gluten allergy and found the girls don't always wash the scoop properly creating cross contamination. I just ordered ice cream tonight and taste peanut butter with almost every bite. What if I had a peanut allergy????
Each girls scooper (they are all girls) give a different size and amount of topping if you order a topping. With each girls, it's like a box of chocolates. Ya never know what you're gonna get.
Lastly, we are finding ourselves going to Shaker Pond as they offer a 15% Miliary Discount. Pro Military, pro our business.
We still go to Shaine's. The ice cream is good and they are close to where we live. They are open all year, which is a bonus and drives business because there is literally no where else to go in the winter.
Jeff Shaine is very nice. It's nice he walks around and makes an appearance, checking on customers. He even stayed open for us late one night when they were already closed. Customer service goes a long way, but so does getting an...
Read moreSPOILED LOBSTER!!!! BEWARE!!! On Wednesday, July 10th I drove from NY as I do weekly and stopped at Shains for a lobster roll as I usually do. Everytime I’ve been in the past it’s been fantastic but this time around was a nightmare. I ordered 3 lobster rolls, 1 cold 2 hot. I made it through the cold one without noticing any issues, but as soon as I bit into the hot lobster roll I started gagging profusely, I’ve never tasted something so off putting and vile in my life. Not even the own workers could smell it without whipping they’re head back in disgust, I didn’t make a big issue out of it a quietly asked a worker if they could remake it for me, upon getting the new one I realized that not only did that one also smell rotten but so did the 5 additional rolls my passenger had purchased for his family. So we went up to the register to let them know something was seriously off with the lobster, in return I was told I’d get a refund, which the manager denied and told me “the owner would mail me my cash” (She must of thought I had half a brain) Upon speaking to the owner he instantly cut me off and wouldn’t let me tell him what I had to say, accused me of lying about his employees smelling the lobster, he was VERY unfriendly, and to be frank a bit standoffish. His excuse for the spoiled lobster was that “they got from a new supplier”, Lobster should never have a foul smell to it. Somebody who owns a restaurant that specializes in lobster should know this. The lobster rolls my passenger and I consumed also made us ill. This isn’t an anyways meant to bash them, in any other way other than how they handled the situation and treated me as a paying customer who very clearly got served spoiled lobster. Won’t be coming back for anything other...
Read moreCalled in an order, stood there for almost 20 min watching people come in after me getting their food. The girls saw me standing there the whole time and never asked if I ordered or called in an order. I saw my food put down behind the cashier and no one looked at the ticket and just let it sit there. I had to ask another girl that came from the kitchen about my order and she told me I had to get in line and pay. I didn't go up to the cashier because there is a card reader at the pickup window and i thought i would be paying there. So obviously the sign above the cashier should not just say "order here" it should say " call in orders pay here" The 2 girls working the cashier and bringing the food to the pick up counter have no people skills, they had a look on their faces like they really didn't want to be there and wasn't pleasant with the customers. A month after my original review today 5/14/23 this is what happened!! So instead of management apologizing for my bad experience, they come back with sarcasm and rudeness in the restaurant. Older gentleman came out with a bunch of call in orders and said that if you called in an order and you're smart enough to be in this line they're ready!!! Really that's how you treat customers!!! I will never buy from your restaurant again and will never recommend your restaurant to...
