My wife and I were at Santa Barbara for a short visit. We had a great experience everywhere except this restaurant. We wanted to check out a unique place and found this one on Google. We are both controlling diet so normally won’t eat big dinner. The reviews are pretty good, especially talking about the robot servers. We thought we might just want to go and have some fun. However, it became a total disappointment. The moment we walked in, the female attendant talked in very low voice that we have a hard time to hear since we just did a long drive. She basically said we can pick a table randomly. We first pick a table close to window then changed mind since the chair isn’t that comfortable. We stared scanning the barcode to order, obviously we didn’t order much since we can’t really eat that much at dinner. For unknown reason, the service became downhill from that point. We noticed the floor under the table wasn’t cleaned and very messy with rice dropped on. We asked whether someone can clean it for us. They apparently were not happy and we had to switch back to the original table. We got the food finally, a soup and a vegetable main dish. The food quality is ok but not superb. But the server definitely not in a good mood and didn’t even give us chopsticks. We were trying to ask for it, she was passing by up multiple times serving the other table right next to us and never even paying attention to us. We had to ask another person. We saw the robot server was serving the other table and would like to try and take a photo. The manager or owner of the restaurant basically we didn’t ask for it when ordering so it is our fault. I am not sure the exact reason the way we were treated. My guess is that the small order we made wasn’t making them happy. I have been to multiple restaurants in that area during the same trip. We never had problem elsewhere. At one place, we ordered only one dish. The server even helped us split into two plates so it is convenient for us. Your experience may vary but I don’t think we should be treated this way just because we can’t order much at one meal. We definitely will not recommend this to any of our friends and will never...
Read moreI had a very unpleasant dine-in experience here. Their food tastes great (and very authentic) but worst dine-in service we’ve ever received.
We’re traveling in the area and decided to give this place a try as they have great reviews. Apparently we didn’t deserve any service since the other three tables all ordered a lot more than us - we wanted something light for tonight so only ordered two entrees for two while the table next to us ordered five for two. While I understand that our two entrees totaling $46 is not comparable to the table next to us, I still expected a good attitude rather than ignoring us even when you’re not serving the other tables and a cold tone when talking to us. We were told that the fruit tea we ordered was out of stock, and then maybe our request of adding one can of Sprite was really an inconvenience for you so that it took you over 20 minutes to bring it over to us (maybe longer if we didn’t ask for our check lol).
We always leave a very generous amount of tips but this time it’s just a nope. Very disappointed after being impressed...
Read moreDon't be fooled by these 5 star reviews! This was the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had. Period. My family and I visited Meet Up Chinese a few years ago when they first opened and we shockingly had to wait over 30 minutes for our white rice after all of our other plates were served. The food was terrible then too. However, just last week, we decided to order Chinese food for take out and we read so many 5 star reviews for Meet Up that I thought that we should give the restaurant another chance. We ordered pork fried rice, shrimp with broccoli and pork pot stickers. The fried rice was mushy and completely flavorless with only a few small bits of pork, and about 5-8 green peas and a couple of small slivers of carrots. That is it! The texture and flavor were so terrible that we had to throw it out. The pot stickers were not good at all. They were super thick and doughy with a true lack of flavor. The shrimp with broccoli was alright. We will definitely never be going back to Meet Up for food. Don't be fooled by all of the 5...
