My recent visit to Boba Pup in Santa Clara left me with a mixed bag of emotions. The concept of serving boba in glass bottles initially intrigued me, as it seemed eco-friendly and trendy. However, this novel approach came with its limitations. The standard glass bottle size offered little flexibility for customers who might prefer a smaller or larger serving. I often find myself somewhere between wanting just a taste and needing a full drink to satisfy my craving, but here, I was stuck with a one-size-fits-all option. This lack of accommodation was fairly disappointing, as it didn't allow for the customization that is a staple at most other boba establishments.
The service at Boba Pup unfortunately did little to improve my experience. I walked in with the expectation of a welcoming atmosphere but was met with a surprisingly cold reception. The staff seemed hurried and disinterested, making the entire ordering process feel rushed and impersonal. I attempted to ask a couple of questions about the menu, but my inquiries were met with terse, almost dismissive responses. This harsh service made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer, casting a shadow over what should have been an enjoyable visit. Service quality plays a crucial role in the overall dining experience, and Boba Pup fell short in this regard.
When it came to the actual product, the boba itself was unfortunately just average. Neither particularly bad nor exceptionally good, it landed squarely in the middle of the flavor spectrum. The pearls had the right chewiness but lacked any distinctive taste that might set them apart from other boba spots. The milk tea was also only satisfactory, missing the creamy richness and robust tea flavor that makes boba beverages so delightful. Combined with the rigid cup size and less-than-inviting service, the mid-tasting boba left me feeling that my experience at Boba Pup was just okay, rather than the delightful treat I...
Read moreOh, the corgi markup. But it comes with the jars, which is pretty worth. There are definitely places with comparable prices without those collectables. You can buy without the jars as well. However, they used to charge for plastic cups which is weird.
The first time I came here, the boss told us the boba was a 30 minute wait. We walked around and when we came back, we found the boba was bomb. They must have given it time to chill because it was not too hot and mushy. My mom recently tried this place and she also agreed that the boba was the best part about it. The regular one, not the matcha boba or any of the other toppings.
The drinks themselves are a hit or miss. I usually order online nowadays but there are self-order kiosks there. There are actually no employees present at all except when they bring out the drinks so customer service is nonexistent unless you ring a bell.
There are a few tables outside as well as tables inside and seats at a very short bar. I like the black teas they offer a lot better than the fruit teas. Some of their smoothies come with cream cheese foam which actually works a lot better than I imagined. But whatever you do, don't get the ube latte. It is very powdery and disintegrates fast.
The jar covers they use 🫙 and also the jar shape changes sometimes. Some are easier to use them others. Even if you handwash the jars, don't use hot water or harsh exfoliating sponges. The stickers will get scratched. Actually some of the jars I get already have holes in the...

The store is conveniently located in the same strip mall as ToBang K-BBQ and other yummy Korean restaurants. You can easily come by Boba Pup to grab a drink or dessert after your sumptuous meal ! There are ample free parkings. I came around 12:30pm on a Monday and I found parking right away.
The store is neat, clean and nicely decorated. There are a few bar seatings by the big windows looking out to the parking lot. If you want to be outdoors, there are a few table and chairs out there that you can use.
You put in the order yourself at one of the 2 self-ordering iPad station. Or scan the QR code on the bar table. The ordering process was straightforward. You'll receive a text with your order confirmation.
I always wanted to try their Strawberry Dubai Chocolate cup. My order came out quickly within 5-7 minutes and of generous portion. The strawberries are sweet and fresh. They complement the richness and crunchiness of the Dubai chocolate so well. For $18 per cup, it may be on the pricier side but I love my reusable glass cup which I can keep. It worths to...
