It was a chill Tuesday afternoon and my partner and I were looking for a nice simple lunch. I was originally feeling some kbbq but just wanted to order one meat and eat it with banchan, however this place had a minimum of 2 meats per table for bbq. Because of this, we had to pivot and look at their lunch menu instead. We ordered the lunch special LA Galbi and Mul Naengmyeon as well as the Seafood and Beef Soft Tofu Stew. The Galbi was great, the noodles were refreshing and really thin, and the tofu stew was rich and warming. Though, these items were not the highlight of the meal. The banchan and the service were the absolute best. They had one dish that was essentially a version of macaroni salad, but it wasn’t macaroni. I have no idea what it is, but that was the best version of macaroni salad I’ve had. They also had this super delicious seaweed and radish banchan. It was like umami encapsulated in one bite. I even asked for the name of the dish, but now trying to search it up I feel completely lost. Beyond the banchan, the service was also great as we were the last people in the restaurant. They were just chilling waiting for us but as the server saw us get low on banchan she would immediately refill it for us. One day I must go back to try the bbq cooked on the wood coals, but for now what we had was perfect.
Update: tried the bbq and it was fire. We got the wagyu ribeye which is huge as well as the Kalbi which were both really good quality and cooked perfectly. However also learned that their banchan rotates regularly depending on what ingredients...
Read moreLong story short, spend your money somewhere else it's not worth it here.
First of all, service is awful. No greeting when you come in, we had to ask for the server to come take our order and no hint of friendliness from anyone that works there. It simply does not feel welcome to dine here and it's so sad to see one of my favorite childhood restaurants reach a new low like this.
There used to be a time this place was affordable for all families, I was shocked to find one serving of marinated bbq was $56 today. When you are paying a premium, you expect premium meat but I only tasted a marginal difference from before. I also expected the beef to be free of white chewy fat for such a high price but I set my expectations too high and obviously this wasn't the case. They also have young inexperienced servers who had no idea how to pace cooking the meat so that customers always eat hot, fresh off the grill meat. We ended up with 2 servings of cold meat and had to eat in a hurry to prevent it from being stone cold.
I'm guessing the owner could sense our disappointment, when I went up to pay the check, he basically threw the card back at me without a word and literally left right away. I wanted to leave no tip for everything I experienced but stil left some for the servers who were somewhat helpful.
I only left 2 stars for the nostalgia I still feel for this place, but as a kbbq enthusiast there are so many better, affordable and friendly options nearby I will not recommend this place to anyone else or will I ever come back to this...
Read moreWe had a reservation at 7pm for my fiance's coworkers birthday. A party of 10. The parking there was terrible. Some of our party had to circle around the parking lot a few times. There were a few of our party in front of the restaurant. They were told that they couldn't get seated until the whole party was there. 3 of our party were still circling the parking lot. When everyone parked we went inside to let the hostess know all our party was here. The hostess with the tattoos (Jenny or Jaime the place was super loud) was extremely rude to our group. She did not give us the courtesy to talk to us when we were outside waiting. She gave our table away because we were 7mins late. She didn't even try to accommodate us, she walked off. One of our party members went to find someone to talk to about a table for us. The rest of the party went outside the restaurant by the door to wait. A few minutes pass by while waiting on an answer about a table, they closed the door on us discussing our options. They apparently didn't want us there anymore because they could find us a table. So we ended up nextdoor to Tobang. The lady there was super nice and was happy to try to work with a last minute party of 10. The food there was delicious. Had a lot of good laughs. Too bad for this restaurant Korean Spring with a bad hostess who could figure out how to do her job. This restaurant is going to lose a lot of sales with her attitude. We looking forward to trying Korean Spring but now all I can tell people is that the people in...
