My husband and I have been here a handful of times and have always had great food and service, but today, we were blatantly ignored for about a good 20 minutes. We just wanted to have a nice dinner for my husband's birthday after being out of the country for some time now....but no. It's a Sunday evening and a young teenage guy sat us. Meanwhile, we were in an older ladies' section (she has glasses and keeps her hair up in a bun). We were sat right away and the young guy took our drink order and then brought our drinks to us. After that, no one ever came back by our table again. We kept seeing the older lady tend to her 6-8 top table and then we saw her seat a dad with two young girls. Meanwhile, she passed our table plenty of times and didn't ask if we had ordered or were even ready to order. The you g guy who sat us even used the restroom and our table was directly across from it- so when he exited it, he could directly see our table. Absolutely DISAPPOINTING. It wasn't even super busy either....but how can you seat 2 people, take their drink order and bring them their drinks, and then just ignore them for the rest of the visit? Hopefully this is a fluke....because it's unacceptable. My husband went up to another male server (the chubby one with facial hair) to retrieve our check and he even seemed pissed off to bring us our check....probably because we weren't his table. PLEASE hold a team meeting with your servers and train them...
Read moreI would give no stars but couldn’t because the food is good.
Sadly we had a very horrible experience for my mother’s 90th birthday on Wednesday. Service was pitiful, uncaring and unapologetic. Food was brought out late and cold. Which was especially perplexing since it wasn’t very busy. The server was full of excuses and lies. A manager came over to apologize for the lateness and asked if we needed more drinks. We said yes and instead of comping them, they put the on the bill. Nice huh? A shrimp was lost due to a skewer malfunction and another skewer was offered as a replacement. But after several statements that they need 15 minutes to grill a shrimp 🦐 the skewer arrived 30 minutes later just as we were getting our bill. I know a bit about cooking and grilling a shrimp for 15 minutes will not be a tasty result!! Then the bill comes. Of which the server originally offered a 10% discount for poor service but changed it after the manager felt the three shrimp in the to go box was generous enough. So pay the full tab for cold and late arriving food. Plus pay for a comped beer and glass of wine. Nice huh? Needless to say, this was the last time we will be going there. Everyone was quite shocked at the lack of concern and customer service by the server and managers...
Read moreI have been going to Goombays for over 3 years, and unfortunately, it has consistently gone downhill in terms quantity, and recently quality as well. The portion sizes have always been meager. A $5.00 taco should include more than a half dozen tiny pieces of steak or chicken. Recently, however, I experienced the final straw when I ordered their nachos, for $10.00, as well as the lava cake, which was about $7.00. What I received was a handful of corn chips smothered in cold, cheap, less-than-movie-theater-quality nacho cheese, with 9 tiny pieces of chicken, 1/4 cup of largely-diced tomatoes and jalapenos, and a tiny side of sour cream. Taco Bell's Nachos Bellgrande is far more appetizing, and I could have purchased 3 of them for the price of these "restaurant quality" nachos. Why would a moderately high priced, beachside restaurant ever think that canned, nacho "cheese" is a good idea? serve real food with fresh ingredients, and leave the drunk food to bars and baseball games guys! The lava cake was the equivalent to a Dominos lava crunch cake, only 4x the price. So if you enjoy Taco Bell and Dominos quality food (at 3-4 times the price plus tip), Goombays is the place for you. We are done with this place until they learn how to provide quality food at...
