I’m not sure what is going on with this place but it’s sad because this used to be one of my favorite places for sushi. Last time we ordered they messed it up but i figured i would try again because it’s usually good. Tonight when I called in my takeout the woman who took my order was so rude and unaccommodating.
I ordered a volcan roll and asked for the spicy tuna on the side because I am pregnant and can’t have raw fish. She told me they could not do that. So I asked if they could just not put it on then. I order sushi for another family member and then remembered they put tobiko on a lot of their rolls so I asked her if they could leave that off as well. At that point she said, “if you can’t eat it, you don’t order it”. I said I can eat it but because I am pregnant I can’t have anything raw. She said to order a chicken or different cooked roll and I told her I had never had one so I wasn’t sure i would like it and wanted something I had already tried.
I have been in the service industry most of my life and can not imagine fighting with a customer and telling them that they couldn’t order something because I didn’t feel like putting in the modifications. Especially these days with all the different allergies and intolerances people have. The last straw for me was when I was trying to pay and she said I couldn’t pay over the phone because she was too busy. What if it was takeout? I was not the one picking it up so I wanted to make sure it was all set but that wasn’t allowed either. If I wasn’t ordering food for everyone else in the house i would have cancelled the entire order and gone elsewhere. At this point I had already wasted too much time with the rude woman being told what I could and could not order and my mother was already in the parking lot.
When I called my mother to tell her everything that had transpired she told me she was already inside and they were not busy at all. We typically spend at least a hundred dollars 2-4 times a month here but I will never order from them again. If your going to go in I would rate it 3/4 stars based on their sushi but the Chinese is just ok. I would order elsewhere for take out or delivery, they don’t even give fortune...
Read moreI don't know how long Sho Yu has been there but this was our first visit. My wife and I had been regulars at Out of Asia for years when they closed recently. So we needed a new Asian food spot and a friend recommended Sho Yu. Walked in the place and was immediately impressed by the cool vibe that the place has, a kind of retro-modern look. Sushi bar to the left, booze bar to the right, both look inviting and comfortable, but we chose the dining room. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu was fairly extensive and has all the classics as well as some house special items. Our order was for beef teriyaki, Peking ravioli, salt & pepper shrimp, sesame chicken and fried rice. And we loved it! Shrimp were fresh and crunchy. The Peking ravioli were the best I've had in a long time and not doughy. The beef teriyaki was sweet and savory, again one of the best I've tried. They also serve delicious lemonade and freshly brewed tea. This place is awesome but it wasn't busy at all which I found surprising. It should be packed and once word gets around, it will be. Go now! My wife and I have a new favorite...
Read moreBeen using this place for Chinese food delivery for over 3 years and I finally can't take it anymore. This place isn't good anymore. Everything we ordered looked bland and uncooked. I ordered steamed peking ravioli expecting they would come and taste like the way they make the steamed gyoza... so undercooked doughy and gross. Not to mention... there was nothing I could do about the bland taste and doughyness... because they gave me no dipping sauces and no fortune cookies or anything. At least the crab Rangoon were still good. Honestly, I felt like this place doesn't put heart and care into the food they cook anymore. I could buy a bag of frozen potstickers for less than $10.95 and figure out a way to steam them better and get more for my money. Like... when I order Chinese food... I expect it will be expensive... but if it's gonna be expensive I expect it to taste delicious and homemade not some dumplings from a...
