I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Cohen’a Retreat. My wife and I had a friend visiting from out of state. We wanted to take her to a nice dinner and experience amazing Georgia food. We made a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival - the only reason I gave any stars for this review.

We were seated before 2 other tables that also had the same waitress as us. From overhearing the waitress interacting with the other tables behind us, we quickly realized we were NOT getting the same experience as them. Our waitress spoke enough to get our order and mildly check on us.

My wife ordered the NY strip steak - medium rare. The other tables who ordered after us got their food before us. Not sure how that works if our order went in first. The steak comes out and it’s medium well and barely hot. Anyone who is a cook or works in a kitchen would know that if you put a medium rare steak under the warmer (waiting for the server or waitress to pick it up) and it’s left there too long it continues to cook…. Making it medium well.

The one time the waitress checks on us, our friend and I have eaten about half our meals and my wife has barely touched hers because it’s not cooked properly. Every other table got a friendly, upbeat, check in on their plates. Not us. It was “everything okay?” …And then walked away. A GOOD waitress would have noticed that the steak and rest of the meal had barely been touched and would have asked if there was something wrong with the meal. Steak is a specific meat that gets cooked a specific way, hence why you ask how you want it cooked. Clearly this waitress is not trained to serve steak.

Because our friend and myself were already halfway through our meals, there was no point in creating a bigger problem.

We will never be back. Service was terrible and waitress is not trained to serve the food you offer. Critical pieces of your business. She also would have received a much larger tip from us had she known what she was doing. You get...

When looking for our wedding reception venue we were looking for something romantic and modern with a mix of vintage. We were immediately drawn to Cohen's with its beautiful and artsy touches but originally thought they were out of our price range. But after talking further with Gabby and having her explain all of our options we realized it was perfect for us. We had a small destination wedding (we live in MD) in September. Our ceremony was at Wormsloe Historic Site and reception at Cohen's Retreat which worked out perfectly as they're only a few miles apart from each other. I (bride) can't say enough good things about working with Gabby and how flexible and patient she was with us. She was really attentive to all of my numerous questions and was good about calling me back and replying to my emails. She went over every option available and explained everything in detail. I really appreciated her working with not only me but our other vendors to make sure everything ran smoothly. On the day of the wedding I was sad I couldn't meet Gabby in person but was told she was on a much needed vacation so was happy to hear she was having fun with her family! The only thing I would note is that there were extra empty place settings/chairs at some of our tables which made them look a little empty. I'm not sure if there was miscommunication somehow that led to this but overall our experience was great with Cohen's staff. The (I think his name was Chris?) who was the other event manager and our bartender for the night was amazing! He was very helpful and super friendly! Our guests had nothing but nice things to say about him and would definitely recommend to other brides to book your wedding at Cohen's with their awesome event team and...

This was our second time dining at Cohen’s Retreat. We were seated at the exact same table only at the opposite side of the dining room. I have to say that it’s all too rare for restaurants to have comfortable seats. Both the banquet and the chair were height and firmness appropriate. As my Beloved spouse says, “An uncomfortable chair really ruins a meal.” We ordered the tomato onion pie as an appetizer. We were surprised when not one, but 2 personal sized pies came out. They were outstanding. The sweet and tart flavors mixed beautifully. Beloved spouse had his heart set on the rack of lamb. Unfortunately as our server, Tanner, explained the chef had been disappointed in recent deliveries of lamb and had opted to use it for stew instead, while looking for a new supplier. Beloved spouse did shift to the filet mignon with French fries, done medium. I so seldom get scallops I could not resist them when I saw the menu. Both meals arrived a reasonable time after finishing our appetizers. (It’s so nice to have a leisurely meal and not feel rushed.) They were both wonderful. The filet practically melted in your mouth. Likewise the scallops were tender and sweetly flavorful. If there was anything disappointing about the meal, I would say it would be the lack of a choice of side with the filet. French fries are more of a hamburger fare. As I said, we have eaten at Cohen’s previously. We planned to order flan to share for dessert. Unfortunately Tanner told us that they only had Key Lime Pie. Now I know many people enjoy it but Beloved spouse and I do not. Oh well. We have ice cream at home.😉 Along with 2 glasses of Chardonnay our bill for food came to $128. We tipped...

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Cohen’s Retreat for lunch, and it was nothing short of spectacular. As a Savannah local and a connoisseur of shrimp and grits, I can confidently say that Cohen’s offers the best shrimp and grits in town, hands down. The dish was flawlessly prepared, bringing together rich, comforting flavors in a way that I’ve never experienced before. But the culinary delights didn’t stop there—the key lime pie was divine, striking the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, a must-try for anyone who visits. Adding to our exceptional dining experience was our server, Missy, who was the epitome of delightfulness. Her service was attentive and warm, making us feel truly valued. Cohen’s Retreat is a gem in Savannah’s dining scene, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
