I am vegan and gluten free and l know that’s complicated. One of the 3 times I’ve come they made my drink made with milk and was not able to drink it. The third time I went with a visiting friend who ended up trying to order my drink for me and asking to make sure everything was gluten free and dairy free. The girl who took the order was really nice but just said she didn’t know to all of our questions and didn’t try to find out. We asked a few dumb questions like what is espresso just to see if the girl really didn’t know or was just messing with us and she honestly didn’t know. My friend was able to get a drink but she said she thinks the caramel I get does have gluten and maybe dairy but we weren’t able to see the container it comes in so I wasn’t able to even order this time. She was more angry than me and left a review that the owner got mad at because she said the baristas didn’t know what they were doing because I could have gotten sick. Her wording was harsh in her review but the owner is just brushing off how important it is to know what’s going in drinks. I’ve tried to try this place out but they are rarely open when I pass by. I finally caught them during their open hours! The employees were pretty nice and tried to be helpful but did not know much about their menu or coffee in general. Espresso was explained to me as “very dark coffee”…so not the greatest knowledge on that baristas part. I just got an iced latte to kinda test the waters on their espresso and don’t know that I would give them a second chance. You can tell that whoever set up the shop and made the menu doesn’t have the biggest interest in coffee or cafes in general but they did have a wide variety of drink and pastry options. They have the potential to be a great cafe due to their location but desperately need baristas who know coffee or at least the basics. I did hear a couple inside talking about the ice cream and saying that it was great and I will definitely try it out if I stop by next time. In short, this place wouldn’t be a bad choice but I look forward to trying other shops and cafes in the area.

this used to be such an amazing little place our town really needed! lately they are clearly slacking. they are staffing one person in the place and most of the time they are untrained teenagers! this is so so dangerous especially since most of them are young girls it seems like! i have enjoyed this place since i moved to scottsburg. they are one of the few places that used to acknowledge my dietary restrictions when it came to coffee. now i have been given the wrong milk several times and the baristas very rarely know what im talking about when i order my drinks. this is so unfortunate and i would absolutely love to see this place do better by upping safety for staff and customers as well as training their staff...
