Eating out at Bar and Grills can be a crapshoot. Grills at local ice rinks are often some of the worst you can find. But niether of these generalities are not applicable to the 18⁰ Grill at the Scottsdale Ice Den. This B&G has good service, decent food and lots of tables and seating. The seating area is expansive, with dozens of tables and a large ringed bar centering the room.
For my visit to 18⁰, I was attended to promptly by the waitress who quickly brought our drinks. I ordered 1/2 dozen dry rub wings for an appetizer, and they were excellent, hot and large sized. For the entrée, I ordered the "Join the Club" sandwich which was their version of a club sandwich. It was excellent. The ingredients were fresh quality, the bacon was hot, and bread was perfectly toasted. The shoestring french fries were likewise excellent, served hot, and gently garnished.
Honestly, this is by far the best grill at any of the ice rinks. If you are playing hockey, skating or out watching a game at Scottsdale Ice Den, don't hesitate to use the 18⁰ Grill afterwards for eating a meal. The staff are kind, fast and very helpful. The food is good and there is plenty of room for any size party. The prices seem a bit high, but this is par for course on any in-building grills at local rinks.
I won't hesitate to return if I am at the Ice Den for an...
Read moreI would not recommend this place. Went today for a lunch meeting with co-workers. Walking in, the light fixtures were all very dirty and had cobwebs all over them. They had just opened and yet there were dirty tables, the plastic menus were sticky and dirty. Our server was full of attitude from the moment she greeted us. We had made a reservation yet they were not set up for us, we didn't get enough silverware for the table, when the drinks came the straws were set on the table with the paper wrapper all wet, when one person was handed a lemonade but had clearly asked for ice tea, no lemon, pink sugars on the side, she proceeded to argue to the point of making us all uncomfortable and as she walked off she made a snide comment. The menu clearly states that they burger came with lettuce, tomato and onion, mine arrived without, when I questioned it she proceeded to argue with me that its a BYO, (build your own). Going as far as getting a menu to prove her point. By the time I got condiments the food was cold, not that it was hot when it arrived. She then spent the rest of our time there being sure she refilled drinks and removing dishes except my co worker and I. I will never go back there, bad food, awful service and the...
Read moreGreat place to drink, Do not eat here. Bar staff was exemplary. Pretty much perfect in every way. Head "chef" however needs to be relieved of their duties as they are incompetent. Frozen meatball app showed up ice cold in the middle with old pasta sauce (too low of a water content, basically paste). Knowing they can mess up frozen meatballs I went with a no brainer and ordered chicken strips. The grease they were fried in is far past its prime as they arrived nearly black, brittle, and tasting burnt. To add to this, the poor man next to me ordered something that came with sweet potato fries and asked to sub for regular fries. The "head chef" denied the request and forced the bartender to break the bad news to the customer. I almost ordered the guy a batch of regular fries but knowing how far gone the grease was I did not. I will 100% be back for the beer and the bar staff. If you are near here and hungry just hope the Thumb BBQ is open just a block or two east. Unreal poor food experience all stemming from the "head chef". Will never order food here again, and will adamantly work to prevent anyone I know from wasting money on (what the "head chef" considers) food...
