My wife and I went to Toscana in Scottsdale last night with high expectations. The reviews were outstanding and we so enjoy experiencing new restaurants that are trying to break into the local culinary scene. Toscana’s location is little off the beaten path and requires a little help from GPS to find. Their space is nicely laid out and decorated. Unfortunately the location of our table to the bar was not outstanding. I recommend that management informs the bar staff to not just toss empty bottles into the trash. The first time it happened I thought someone had dropped a pile of plates. However, that was not the case and it happened several times. The solution seems pretty simple. The wait staff at Toscana was very attentive. Food was delivered in a timely fashion and water glasses were always full. One issue I had with wait staff/kitchen was the lack of willingness to swap out a side on my Branzino entree. That entree came with roasted cauliflower, which I am not a fan of. I was willing to trade it out for ANY of their other sides, but was refused the accommodation. As it turned out the cauliflower, which was roasted and not my first choice, was incredibly dry. My Branzino, which I am usually a big fan of, was a disappointment. The skin was not crisp and roasted as I prefer. It was Very unremarkable. BTW the appetizer, which they refer to as “something from the chef”, was an attempt to push the envelope and embrace creativity. The burrata side was supposed to be served warmed, however, it came to the table totally melted. Almost like a soup consistency. It also had an overly abundant amount of whole garlic cloves it it, throwing off the dish’s balance for my palate. The desert on the other hand was outstanding. The budino was a perfect consistency and very flavorable. Served at the perfect temperature. Overall I was disappointed, but not totally discouraged. I'll try this restaurant again and hopefully have better luck with other choices that I make or find some changes to the kitchen’s...
Read moreMy wife and I dined here on Friday, 9/26/2025. We began our meal with the Burrata and a Grilled Seafood Salad which were both awesome! Our main course was a New York Strip for my wife and a Fillet of Beef for me. We both had a side of Crispy potatoes which were amazing. When I say that these steaks were the best we’ve ever eaten, I am not exaggerating. The Fillet was melt in your mouth good and the New York Strip was cooked to perfection and so darn good! Our server was Scott and he was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. The owner, Angelo, made a point to check in with us to see how we were doing and if everything was satisfactory! If we weren’t from out of town, we would definitely make a weekly...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for the first time this evening with friends that have been to Toscana many times. We just returned from Italy and found the food here so authentic and of high quality. There is a great variety on the menu. The entrees include a first course appetizer/salad. We had the Arancini and Burrata and loved them both. Our entrees were bolognese and gnocchi and they were mouth watering good. It has a wonderful ambiance, a nice bar area and a great outdoor patio. No surprise that it won best new restaurant by the Phoenix New Times. We will be back and will tell our friends...
