Amazing experience all around! First off: shoutout to Kelly who made the night extra special! As usual, I tried to come in on an off night (Monday) and see what Tuna Striker was all about. From the location to the food, everything was top notch. We were seated right away and had our choice of sitting outside under umbrellas on the deck, or partially covered inside near the bar. Great to have options! Once we were seated, we were greeted by Kelly right away even though she was busy with multiple tables. Some of my friends got special drinks from the menu while my buddy and I tried to order random things like tequila and scotch: they delivered. I got to sip my tequila right by the bay with amazing sights and sounds (see pic)! Next, we ordered appetizers: steamers and ahi tuna. It was amazing. It's been quite a long time since I had steamed clams and they prepared them perfectly in my opinion as an old salty New Englander. The tray came with a bowl to throw shells, water, and butter for dipping. Fresh and amazing. Sorry I couldn't include any pics of the appetizers, they did not last long at all. Next, came the second round of drinks: Sun Cruisers. Great selection of beverages and they were clearly listed out in the drink menu. Lastly came our entrees: twin lobsters, lobster roll, lobster BLT, and fish tacos. I feel like these 4 items are what Tuna Striker does best. I had the twin lobsters, as you can see in the pic included they were good size. I was expecting tiny chicken lobsters but the order was much more. The lobster BLT and roll were on the pricier side, but look at how much lobster you get (check the pictures below, you can't even see the roll there is so much lobster!). Reminder to all who would complain about the price: you are paying market price on the lobster AND the insane labor that goes along with clacking and cleaning each one. Think of it as a very acceptable convenience fee. Although the twin lobsters were cheaper than the roll and BLT, I was the last person done with dinner as I had to do all my own work. If you can hack it, I truly think the twin lobsters are absolutely the best bang for your buck. Wear a lobster bib and get weird! I was completely full by the end of the meal with no room for dessert. That is the sign of a job well done. We barely waited for drinks or food. Everything came out hot and delicious. The staff was courteous and there were bathrooms inside and outside the restaurant itself. Plenty of parking, but the lot can absolutely fill up! Avoid all the noise and congestion of the Hampton Beach boardwalk and go to Tuna Striker instead. The best part: you are only a short drive away from the boardwalk and beach if you wanted to experience that as well. But from an old school, New England seafood pub experience on the NH water: this is the...
Read moreCan’t say we had the best experience on a Tuesday night…. Got to the restaurant around 6:50, was quoted “about an hour” for a table for 2. We decided to wait, we’d never been here before and the reviews were good. Over an hour later (8:07) my husband checked on the status of our table to see where we were on the list and the hostesses said we had one more table ahead of us so we decided to wait more thinking it wouldn’t be much longer to go. Another 40 minutes later my husband spoke to the hostesses again, let them know we’d been waiting over an hour and 40 minutes for a table - they apologized and said we would be offered a 10% discount on our bill once we were seated. This was a nice offer so again we waited it out. In the mean time at least 3 party names were called out and not answered so they had obviously left before being called despite being told we had one party ahead of us.. Finally we were seated - ate our meal, food was good but certainly not worth an almost 2 hour wait for a table. The check came, we let the server know the hostess had said we’d be offered a discount we didn’t see reflected in the check and she said they hadn’t let her know that and she’d be right back. A few moments later she came back to the table and had said she checked with everyone and they all said they never said that to my husband. We reiterated that it was one of the young women at the hostess stand and she repeated that she had asked them and they told her they didn’t tell my husband that and placed the check back on the table. This interaction was a little off-putting, my husband is the most honest man out there so I’m not sure if they had said something similar and he misheard them but he was wildly embarrassed at the entire scenario at this point. We paid our check, cleaned up our table and finally left the restaurant at what felt like midnight. On the way out the hostesses were still at the door and sheepishly said bye as we headed out the door. I almost stopped to ask them about what they did/didn’t tell my husband just to clarify what had actually been said if they didn’t really say what he heard them say but I was a little flustered and we just wanted to go home. Food was fine, ambiance is fine, staff is meh other than the very nice women in the pink shirt offering to take orders while they wait for 2 hours for a table, she was sweet. Overall a not great experience and I can’t say we would refer...
Read moreVery nice ambience inside the restaurant, decent beer menu, and some very tasty crumbs on their baked haddock. Those are the only positives I experienced while dining here.
I ordered the baked “Atlantic Trio” for $26 which is a plate of haddock, scallops, and shrimp with a side of fries and a bit of carrots and green beans. Now when I say “scallops” I mean two of them. No not two big ones, just two very ordinarily sized scallops. Just barely enough to technically be considered “scallops” and not “scallop”. They were good, don’t get me wrong. The shrimp was a slight upgrade from the scallops in the sense that there were three of them instead of two. The haddock was a disappointment to say the least. There was a reasonable amount of haddock to reflect that it was supposed to be a one third portion of the meal. There were, however, bones aplenty in the haddock which is definitely a vibe killer when you’re trying to enjoy your meal.
I’d like to take this moment to remind the reader that this was a $26 meal. I could have spent $18 on a fish and chips plate like one of the others in my party had for THREE pieces of haddock sizes equivalently to the one I got. I understand the price difference is meant to reflect that it takes more effort to bake the food than to deep fry it and that there are two more expensive kinds of seafood included in the entree, but when there is only enough of the other two seafoods to barely make the qualification of being considered plural instead of singular that price difference is wildly unjustified.
Would not come back here on...
