River Hills Seafood @ Steak — Restaurant in Sealy

DO NOT EAT HERE! "Not good" 1 star, should be "not acceptable". We chose to try this place for dinner ~7:30pm on a Wednesday. It was "seat yourself" greeting (only two of us) and with only 2 tables being used and 1 table just leaving, we had 10-12 other tables to choose from, 4 tables we went to were sticky, the table that was just returned to service (new utensil/napkin wrap placed on table) this table had visible food smears. We went to a larger table it seemed OK, about that time the manager met us, i told him all the tables we tried to sit at needed to be cleaned, he said "we will clean them tonight". we were close to leaving but there are very few restaurants in Sealy so we wanted to "try it". We ordered 6 Large Butterflied Fried Shrimp, Chicken Fried Steak, each come with salad & one side. Salads were OK 1 had a couple off color pieces of lettuce but over all looked and smelled fresh, dressing was house made Ranch from seasoning pack but tasted ok. The Shrimp were smallish (26-30 count) each shrimp on the plate had a dab of grease under it, baked potato looked OK, the shrimp tasted old and tough, the sour cream on the baked potato was rancid. The tarter sauce & cocktail sauce tasted nasty & weird with dirty hand cut plastic bottles. The Chicken Fried Steak was cooked in a deep fryer on its edge where the meat was over cooked on one end and the breading on the other end was more than an inch away from the meat, trying to give the CFS a chance with the gravy only made it worse, the mashed potatoes were very dry and no help from the gravy. When the waiter came to see that we were not eating he explained the "regular cook" was not there and he would talk to the mgr about "discounting " our bill. The waiter returned with the bill without explanation, only to say he was surprised the backup cook was not better.The "discounted bill" was only 15%. The manager did not come to speak with us. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY...

If you’re a person of color or anybody who just loves flavor in their food this is not the Restaurant to go to I have spoke with the NAACP an hired attorney to file suit against this place they were very unprofessional there food was nasty .owner told me that he wasn’t the owner he was only a manager .the worker that works there is just horrible does not do tent to customers black customers that is she stated that she’ll pay for the food once I ask for my charge since the food was Burt and nasty. But when I got up to leave they called the police cause I told them I was going to write a review being a restaurant owner myself this was just not excitable.yhey told the police that I stole food from there which they know all the offices by name remember this is six dollars worth of food.I had six to ten police officers called on me. I was detained and they gave me a trespass for this restaurant Now take it I just filled up my gas tank with $180 worth of gas at this location but because they didn’t like the fact that I thought the food was nasty and They didn’t want to take it back they called the police and made up a big story to get the response they wanted this is not the place to go I have a lawsuit is pending do not eat at this location do not buy gas from...

This restaurant, located in a very clean travel center, is a pleasant, unexpected surprise! My spouse ordered the catfish dinner, and I ordered the flat iron steak with grilled shrimp. The appetizer was an eggroll. The catfish was flaky but not dry and the seasoning was not overly salty, yet flavorful. The steak was cooked to perfection! The vegetables of broccoli, carrots and onions had a light tangy flavor. The mashed potatoes must have been homemade because they were delicious with a little bit of the skin mixed into it. A lot of their seasonings are homemade says the waitress. The menu is really a coastal seafood menu with oysters, crawfish, jambalaya, etouffee, and also, various types of fried rice. The waitress was kind and friendly and said everyone orders the ribeye steak, so I ordered the flat iron and she was right. Every bite was tender and delicious! The staff was friendly and observant!
