It hurts my feelings to have to post this review, but I must say something about this restaurant. I have only written 4 reviews in my entire life, but absolutely had to write this one.
I rated 2 stars because 2 of our 4 dinners were satisfactory, although, our steak dinners could have been much, much, better. The pasta and fish dinners were satisfactory. Being new to Sebring, I had taken my wife and daughter to this restaurant for their birthdays last year since we had received such raved reviews from doctors and nurses whom had eaten there for years (ago). So we took the bait.
My wife is basically a Filet Mignon aficionado, and that is all she orders to compare each establishments' products. Last year her filet ($49.00) was tough, like a sirloin and still bleeding, and my Prime Rib (ordered medium-well done end cut) was also way too rare. We are not chronic complainers of restaurants, and did take the remainder of our food home and cook it to our liking (medium-well done, as originally ordered). I though it must be an anomaly. I did not write a nasty review, nor did we complain to management. This year, we thought they couldn't mess up the beef again, or could they?
We decided to give them one more opportunity. Saturday night our party returned to the scene of the beef crime. Yet again, her filet was (ordered medium-well done) served bleeding on the plate. In all fairness, our server did ask her to cut into the filet to confirm her satisfaction. The shock of blood made her answer yes (as she knew we could take it home and finish cooking it properly, but I'm tired of recooking Chicane's meats at their prices $$$). Now, I'm sure you've seen and heard of what happens to your food when it returns to a restaurant kitchen. We are fearful of what happens to our food when it is returned. (The Rev. Jesse Jackson has admitted several times how he enjoyed spitting in white people's food, and he was supposedly a pillar of the Black community). Again, in all fairness, I have no reason to believe, nor do I want anyone reading this review to believe, any such activities would occur in Chicane's kitchen, but we don't take chances. Further, I ordered their ($12.00 medium-well done) burger as I'd be damned if I would order another $49.00 undercooked steak. It was also served a little less bloody than her filet, almost close to pink, and on a soggy bun.
When our server returned to ensure everything was ok, we showed her the bloody meats and asked if she considered these meats to be medium-well done. She had no response. There was no offer to at least return them to the kitchen to cook properly. That was when I decided that I/we would never return to $*canes, ever again, even if the food was free.
Still aching about having to post this. I'm sure in years past this was "THE PLACE" in Sebring to go, but not for a while. Save your money! Outback serves tastier and more tender filet mignon, will cook your burger and steaks per your order THE FIRST TIME, and at half the price... Sorry Chicane's, I just couldn't keep shut about this visit and goodbye FOREVER!!!!!!! ...
Read moreValentine’s Day 2023 reservations for 8:30pm get there 15 mins early and there is a group of people waiting. No hostess anywhere to be seen. When people started asking I took it upon myself to walk close to the dinning area I asked one of the waitresses if their was a hostess where I received a rude reply of “yeah” followed by a dirty look then another more polite waitress walked up and and said the hostess is walking around he will be back in a min. So we continue to wait now we are right at our 8:30 reservation. Two men walk over to the hostess area where one gentlemen I’m assuming owner or restaurant manager asked all the people waiting how many were in their party which we all replied. I also replied 8:30 reservation. He walked off and the “hostess” stood behind the table close to us. Didn’t acknowledge anyone. Didn’t greet anyone basically acted as if we were not there. He did answer the phone and was telling who ever called that “ they had a full dinning room and did not have time for the phone call” that was on the restaurant land line. Then someone walked up and everyone noticed he checked the people in, shortly after we all walk up. He kept trying to walk off but eventually he had to check all of the people waiting in. Wait another 25 mins after reservation to have the manager or owners to say bare with us we over booked… where I reply “ yeah that’s why we all have reservations to avoid waiting around like this” keep in mind we are all standing in front of the only exit of the restaurant. No big parties left not a lot of people left at all. Then we get seated 45 mins after reservation. the only time the hostess even acknowledged our presence. We sit at this small table in the big room with lots of tables and seats only two couples in the entire area.. they could of seated all of us way sooner if they wanted to. By that time I was extremely irritated. Look at their Valentine’s Day menu literally 5 entree’s. 2 of which I couldn’t eat because of allergy issues. I’m good with paying big money for great food and great service. But I’m not paying Ruth Chris and Ocean Prime prices for mediocre food and very bad customer service and rudeness. No worries I’ll take my beautiful valentine out to a real dinner this weekend in Orlando or Tampa. Should of headed that way anyways everyone who lives in Sebring knows customer service here is a joke. Hopefully this review keeps someone from wasting their money on a...
Read moreMy first time here and what I have to say, Don’t eat here!!!!! Unless you like to be treated unfairly unfairly. Not impressed at all by chicanes unfortunately. I had made reservations a week ahead for valentines specifically next to a window. I show up for my 6:00 reservations for them to tell me this is not available to me by the hostess. This Infuriated me as I specifically asked for this window seat and they completely lied and gave me something else unexpected. I made a comment to the hostess and she explained to me how unfortunately this is all that we have to offer and there is nothing else available, basically saying to me take it or leave it because we have enough business today and you’re not important. I kept my composure and kept on an understanding that some sort of mixup must’ve happened so I let it pass. But after two confirmations and phone calls this should have been held down for me.
I thought this was supposed to be a high end establishment which I thought would be a great time to take my wife. Travis was unfortunately not the best waiter I’ve ever had. he would not once refill my drinks , he would not fetch more bread when I asked him to, he fed me lies instead explaining to me how there was not enough bread for any extra to give out because of Valentines but yet as I look Around the restaurant , other tables are being served extra portions of bread!!!!!!
Our food was also lousy, definitely was rushed out of the kitchen. presentation unacceptable as I had looked around others to see the same dish but only the other tables prepared to the finest but yet mine lacked such finesse.
I understand others have a great time at your establishment MR. Chicane. but how can people be treated this way on such an...
